A few days ago a traffic police was ran over by a motorcycle in Mombasa . The police was on his official duty. The other officer who witnessed the accident said he was thrown from a moving vehicle then ran by a motorist.
He laid on the tarmac in pain asking for help to be taken to the hospital all in vain. The other officer tried to urge the public to help carry him to the hospital but bore no fruits. People were busy recording, taking videos till his final breathe.
It has brought heated debate on social media about the relationship of the police and citizens. It was indeed an inhumane act, saving someone if you are in a position doesn't cost a thing, or does it?

It happened many times here as well. Drivers hurting traffic enforcers and leaving them in pain. But the people who saw this usually help to bring the victim to hospital

@hotsummer imagine it shows the enemity between the police and citizens but helping a person doesn't have a price

Such shocking accidents take place herr in India also;and people keep making videos instead of helping the victims. They have become so insensitive.

Poor guy. Though for the citizens' defense, there is a thing called the "bystander effect". When people are around other people, they tend to feel secure.
That's why when something bad happens, the first thing that comes to mind is that someone else might have taken care of the problem. When everybody thinks like that, nobody reaches out to help.
In fact, this incident has happened many times all over the world. There was this one time when a woman named Kitty Genovese was molested and killed by her boyfriend (I think?). Everybody in their apartment heard everything. But everybody also thought that someone else might have called the police.
