Hi Friends,
Well it seems like there are almost unlimited Mountain Dew flavors available. I wonder what the makers of Mountain Dew are thinking. lol. For those who don't know, Mountain Dew is a citrus flavored soda that has been around since the 1960s in the US.
In addition to the bright neon green original there has been produced - Code Red, Pitch Black, White Out, Fruit Quake, Spark, Major Melon, Frost Berry, Baja Blast and overdrive and I'm sure I'm missing a few out of there too.
To me, honestly most of them (even if they are "Zero" or "diet") still taste too sweet.
A couple are fun, fruit quake was downright delightful - it had a spicy gingerbread and fruit taste to it, major melon is delightful as a watermelon inspired drink, ... but yeah.
What's your opinion on brands that start offering loads of different flavors?
Have you tried any of the new Mountain Dews?

@FayeHazel Thanks for understanding. Even hubs cut out soda, but sometimes drinks it when we go out.

Wow, good for you. I'm sure it's much healthier that way. I have cut down myself. Don't blame you, on certain things I like the complexity of the food by itself

Code Red is my favorite. Pitch Black and Baha Blast are good, too. I probably tried some of the others but I don't remember.
My opinion of brands that start offering loads of different flavors is that sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. Just as bad or even worse is when it does work, they often stop making it or it becomes unavailable where I am. Diet Coke Lime, Lemon and Vanilla are good examples of that and I guess you can custom blend your own at places like Sonic but that's only good when you're someplace that has one of those machines.
Oreo and M&M's have both gone way overboard with crazy new variations. Maybe 10% of them work.

@FayeHazel That could be. There are a few things I can't get here that they still make. Like Lemon Coke. I could order it on Amazon but it costs a fortune to ship.

I tend to agree. Sometimes too much is too much and all tastes similar (some of the dew flavors do that) -- but it's so much worse, like you say when they stop making something you really enjoyed. They stopped with Diet Coke Lime? I loved that one. I guess I'll just have to enjoy it the next time I'm.... at one of those..... BILLION FLAVOR COKE MACHINES LOL you knew I was going to say that though, didn't you?
Do they still make Code Red?

@xander6464 Ah that is great! I hadn't seen it for ages so I wondered. Maybe it's regional

I like Mountain Dew... I like Mountain Dew Pitch Black (Grape mixed with original Mountain Dew.) and Mountain Dew Code Red (Cherry mixed with original Mountain Dew). I've tried Major Melon and it was okay. *shrug* I'm not a fan of most of the Mountain Dew flavors... I don't drink sugar-free or diet sodas. What's the point?
Have you tried any of the Dr. Pepper flavored sodas? There's a new one out called Dr. Pepper Strawberries & Cream Soda. It's Strawberries & Cream without Dr. Pepper in it. (It's okay... I'm not really a fan of cream sodas. *shrug*)

@FayeHazel Dr Pepper is okay. I don't drink it very often... I don't drink any soda very often. My favorite is Mountain Dew Code Red, though.

I find a lot of Mountain Dew's flavors are too generically sweet. Some are good though. I grew up with diet, so to me regular tastes weird, like pancake syrup lol.
Oh yeah, I had some of that Strawberry and Cream Dr. Pepper -- they had some at trivia. I liked it, but found it to be way too sweet. That makes sense actually. I was expecting it to be Dr.Pepper and strawberry creme. Makes sense that it is just strawberry cream flavor.
Do you like Dr.Pepper?

@CarolDM True. I'm a diet drinker, so sugar isn't a concern, but I' m sure the chemicals aren't great either....

@FayeHazel And I enjoy both as well. Sodas are full of sugar.

I love mountain dew zero sugar, perfect sweetness and flavor. I love that they made the pitch black this time in zero sugar. My favorite is code red though, hoping one day they make it in zero sugar lol. Oh yeah the raspberry lemonade dew was a good flavor too

I agree. The Zero seems to be the best. I don't know why they don't make more of the fun flavors in zero as well. :/ Spark is a favorite too, reminds me of Brisk Iced Tea

@MommyOfEli2013 I know, also restaurants need to start offering more diet choices too. Oh yeah diet Fanta is DELICIOUS but hard to find. Good luck :-)

@FayeHazel Yes, they definitely should make more flavors in the zero. Oh yeah, that is the name - spark! Oh brisk iced tea is so good! lol. I see that they have made orange fanta as a zero sugar drink now....hoping to try it sometime to see if it is as good as the regular.

Mt.Dew is rated as one of the worst sodas a person can drink. Absolutely loaded with high fructose corn syrup, I never cared for the original one. But I just don't ever drink soda at all, unless I have been really ill and I might have a Sprite or 7 Up. That's my only exception.

Yes, that is pretty much true. I drink diet or zero for the most part (unless I want to try one of the weird flavors) but even then I'm sure the chemicals aren't the best for a person, either.

Very true, diet sodas are loaded with chemicals. I just try to avoid them all. Honestly, I would rather have water or coffee. I know...boring!

Wow, good on you for not drinking it. It's not the healthiest thing. I bet it was better when it was first out. Seems like formulas change.

Mountain Dew? Or soda in general? Either way you're wise. It's best to not drink them, I know.

My thought has been that most of these new ones are Mountain Dew in name only, but not actually Mountain Dew. It is obvious why the name is used to market these new soft drinks...but not a one of them tastes like Mountain Dew of course.
That being said, I have not tried any of them since I do not drink soda anymore.

To me some of them taste like Mountain Dew and whatever flavor, and some of them taste nothing like Mountain Dew. That's a good point.
