Do you ever fill out surveys for businesses you patronize? Maybe you, like me, were saving your highest ratings. Even if the service was good , maybe you thought, like me, that highest rankings were to be saved for simply outstanding , above and beyond service. Turns out the people looking at the results of these surveys consider anything less than the highest ratings a failure and get on the case of the employees about it. Yikes. Now I know. Photo: Pixabay

@MommyOfEli2013 I think back in the past of all the reviews where I may have gotten someone in trouble without meaning to. Doh!

I had no idea. I just received a survey in the mail to take online for our new car, but the survey was estimated to be 55 minutes. I would have given it the highest scores because I love the car. Too bad the survey is too long.

@DianneN lol, actually the Nielsen's ratings sent me a 5 once in the mail to participate... I hadn't thought it was legal to mail cash... maybe that's wrong

I try to be honest on these surveys, but now I might be generous with the marks!

Oh wow that’s terrible! I didn’t know that. Well I just rated customer service help for Dunkin Donuts 5 stars for every question on there survey so I’m glad I did that after reading what you wrote.

The pharmacy that supplies me with my Xolair shot once a month always calls and lets me know when my shot will be ready and asks me to rate their service. I always give them the highest rating. They are doing me a favor by making sure the shot is available on time and checking in to see if it's actually doing what it's supposed to be doing for me. I appreciate them.

We were told this by the guy we bought our car from. If we didn't give the highest rating, he'd be hauled over the coals because of it.

That's a pity, because I assumed that good enough marks would be good enough. Good to know though

I always rate honestly. But I figured my ratings would be dealt with appropriately. I had no idea that anything less than the highest rating was treated as failure.

Me too, I know what you mean. I mean, I think there are a lot of plenty good responses between perfect and fail, but I guess not in the eyes of those who score those things.

In my opinion the survey results can determine a quality but it's not a low survey value does not necessarily indicate a failure

I know. That's what I thought, too. But apparently not on the case of those who score the tests
