"Dune" movies

One of my most favorite movies is 1984's "Dune" as directed by David Lynch.
"Dune" is a sci-fi story set in the future, where space/time travel is possible thanks to this substance called "spice" which is only found on one planet. And the many royal houses all over the universe are fighting for control of the planet.
There is a mini-series, produced in 2000 by the SciFi channel which wasn't bad either, and a sequel mini series that goes farther into the original series of novels... but my main complaint about those is their casting for the main role of lead character Paul Atredies - he's downright unlikable.
I was naturally excited when in 2021 there was a new version out, but to be honest I found it slow moving and confusing. Ah, sometimes the first one of something is best.
Any "Dune" fans out there?

I started the first book way back when and found it too slow for my tastes so didn't bother watching the movie or television adaptation.

I found the book hard to connect with, too.

@FayeHazel Most books spark my imagination while I'm reading them. Dune left me cold. *shrug*

@FayeHazel I will subscribe to hbo max again once part 2 is available. I cannot afford to subscribe to all platforms at the same time.

I am not sure if I had ever seen one. I may have as I know my son is well into it.

Not rally a fan. I enjoyed the Lynch film, but it felt incomplete and now I know it was radically cut down. The latest film is a bit long for my taste, with long lingering shots. The director did the same thing in the bladerunner sequel

@FayeHazel The one I prefer is the Director's cut... I think!

Oh yes, The "Bladerunner" sequel seemed long, too. Loved the original though, how about you?

I have never heard of it but I recognize the actor that is the largest on the poster.

"I must not fear"... ah yes, there is a great deal of psychology in the movie. Do you like sci fi?

I found the books hard to connect with, but the 1980s movie is a favorite of mine :-)

I haven't seen that series. A lot of times, sequels aren't as good.

I am not a big fan of sci fi series and movies. But have watched quite a few of them and found them entertaining. I am sorry that even the latest version was not upto your expectations.

Ah I can understand that. Sometimes they call Sci-Fi a space western
