She had a screaming fit in the store.

Last night, my son and I stopped at the Dollar General store, a few blocks away, on our way home. He needed a few items from there. We both went in, got a cart, and began hunting up our choices. This store never has enough people working, often just one person, and there are always boxes of items to be put on shelves that no one appears to have time to get done. But I digress.
About a year ago, they installed plexiglass little doors over some items. When you open the door, it plays a loud song. Yes, I'm sure to prevent theft of the items. It's mostly in the over-the-counter medicine section and over some of the pricier beauty items, and so forth. Oh, and it's over the Tide pods, all sorts of the pods are under one of those plexiglass music makers.
All of a sudden, a lady started screaming, not far from where we were. She threw an absolute fit, cussing (I think I learned some new words from her!) about the plexiglass covers and the music. She would not shut up. The manager appeared and informed her if she didn't stop, the police would be called. Oh, that made it worse. She started on threats as well, saying she was going to kick this lady in the ass, and so forth. Oh, and was going to call her boyfriend to come beat up the help.
Yes, the police came. We went to the back of the store because we were visible if we would have just gone out the front door, and we wondered if this horrid lady had a gun, which as we know, happens. She cussed out the police, they cuffed her and she got a free squad car ride.
The lady at the check-out had tears on her cheeks. I felt so badly for her. We paid and went home. Sheesh.
Why that was worth going to jail for, i don't understand.

Yes, when key figures act out, it surely does set a poor example.

I just don't understand why these people think anger and hateful behavior is going to solve anything!

I don't understand either. But some people just have no self-control. I've listened to a few temper tantrums that've occurred in publc from so-called adults.

@MarieCoyle All it does is make things uncomfortable for everyone. I know this one girl's tantrum made me jump several times. Not fun with food in your mouth.

I have lived in a lot of places. Never have seen this much anger and hateful behavior. Very disheartening.

Calling them so-called adults is right on the mark. I know tiny children behave better than some of these people. So what if you don't like something? Just move on...but they don't want to do that, they want to have a hissy fit instead...

Oh, I'm sure.
My best friend's son is a prison guard. He has heard just about everything there is to hear, I think.

@MarieCoyle Yes, but sometimes you have to step back and look at the statistics. How many mass shootings have you read about involving hysterical women in the US in the last six months?

@MarieCoyle Most mentally ill people are pretty harmless. But the ones who are not can do a lot of damage.

I always have to wonder why on earth these people think that type of behavior isn't going to have consequences. More than likely, they just don't care.

Oh, you just flip up the little plexiglass door and the music plays and you plop your item into your cart. A person shouldn't need any help to do that. She was just mad because she didn't like the door, and she hated the music! An idiot.

@MarieCoyle It obviously is very contagious. I think most of the world has caught that virus now. And I don't think there's a cure.

No cure. If there was one, it would probably require reading comprehension and the ability to act like a decent human being, and for many, that seems to be an impossibility.

Our Dollar Tree stores here are usually just a circus.
I never see the same workers more than one time.
Didn't mean to throw you off, Pony.

Aw, what a terrible incident. I think that they put her in jail just in the meantime until her emotions will subside, we'll never know what would have happened if the police didn't arrive and it already caused trauma to the lady at the check-out.

With the threats she was screeching, I think they probably will charge her with more than just disturbing the peace or disorderly conduct.
