A million years ago

We enjoyed our anniversary last night, even though it's actually today. I didn't want to go out to eat (still coughing from the lung surgery), so we cooked steaks on the grill and had baked potatoes and French bread. Lit lots of candles, enjoyed a glass of red wine, and talked about our wedding and honeymoon. We were blessed to be stationed in Hawaii, so that made for a beautiful honeymoon. We had a small wedding with my family and some friends. None of our relatives in NC and Arkansas could afford to fly to Hawaii! My favorite parts of the honeymoon were eating at Larounds, a circulating restaurant on top of a tall building in Waikiki and going to see Don Ho at Duke Kahanamoku's night club in the International Market Place. That was in 1966, but it feels like a million years ago! Today we're just laying around....watched a church service on TV earlier. How's your Sunday going?

@1creekgirl You're welcome. I didn't get married until I was 23 and she was 37... We still didn't know how to be married.

@1creekgirl Aw that is a shame you couldn't have married in that church then.

When I was little, I always wanted to get married in Siloam where my family had gone for at least 5 or 6 generations. But we were stationed in Hawaii when Dale and I got engaged. Siloam is the church that burned down last year.

You mentioning the restaurant on your honeymoon reminded me of something I forgot about. On my first honeymoon my husband and I were on the floor just below the restaurant. At about 2 in the morning there was so much banging around that we couldn’t sleep. We put up with it for an hour before calling to complain. They said we were told that’s how it would be on that floor but we were never told anything. Thankfully they moved us to another room. You and your husband have been married 18 years longer than I have been alive.

@1creekgirl the older I get the younger older people seem to me. People who die at your age I think my god they could have lived another 20 years or more and think of all they missed out on. My first husband dying at 28 really changed things valuing life more. Ps I didn’t mean to make you feel old being married that long is absolutely incredible. I’m on my second marriage

@shaggin I was just teasing! My age out loud does sound old to me, but I don't feel old. Well, getting cancer has convinced me a little more. But God is so merciful and I thank Him every day that I'm still alive.

Gee, thanks for making me feel old! Just kidding, even having cancer at 75 doesn't make me feel old. Older, yes, but not ancient. I'm a late bloomer!

@TheHorse I'm sure some people think I was pregnant because we married so young, but I wasn't. Dale had to go to Alaska for six months with the Navy soon after we got married. Then when we were reunited, you know what happens when a couple have been apart for that long.
