Pen and Paper

Do you ever get your fingers in the wrong place on the keyboard and write a lot of gibberish before you backspace and delete everything? I know none of you have that problem. Only me.
Life was so much easier when all I needed was paper and a pen to write everything. I didn't need to worry about finger placement. Sometimes I try in vain to find those two keys with the raised line so I have my fingers in the right place. I get so frustrated only to look down and find I'm either on the lower row or upper row. I've even hit the cap button several times in a row because my fingers were over too far.
I heard someone in a movie recently say they wished the keyboard had the alphabet in order. It would make life so much easier. Back when I was learning to type on an old-fashioned typewriter, I agreed with her. It took forever to learn this keyboard. I'm not a fast typist. It doesn't come automatically for me. In fact, I watch everything I write in the blank space and say each letter in my head as I'm typing it, so I know immediately when I make a mistake and can correct it. You would be amazed how many times I hit the backspace to correct this simple post. Let alone seeing those red lines from Grammarly letting me know I don't need that comma or the usage of the word is wrong. Sometimes I hate Grammarly. It isn't all-knowing. Sometimes its suggestions just aren't right. Though it has helped me be a better writer.
Does the keyboard frustrate you too? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me and has nothing to do with this post. Just another beautiful snow picture. Eat your heart out @TheHorse. There I go, just took out another unnecessary comma.

I'm glad I took typing in grade 9 and learned to touch type. Before that it was hunt and peck. But knowing where all the letters are makes it very easy to type one-handed if I have to. My main problem now is because I'm using laptop with flat keys I tend to hit the caps lock key when I don't mean to.

@AnneW21 These days, I would imagine nurses do a lot of typing.

A long time ago I took typing lessons and learned about the keyboard. So now I can write and read along as I go and rarely type wrong, Grammarly helps me also. I have become quite used to typing now and Grammarly corrects words as I type.

I do hit the wrong keys sometimes, for sure. It is harder on my new laptop since it is smaller...took time getting used to. But I don't even need to look at the keys to type and I can type really fast...once I got used to this keyboard again. I did take computer classes back in school which I think helped.
What I have trouble with is trying to type things up on a phone....that's a pain!

@just4him I definitely prefer typing on a computer. The other place I am earning on is only an app on the phone and it gets annoying to try to type out my posts on there!
Oh yeah, I am sure I could do some type of typing job...but I have no degree so nobody would probably take me.

I like the keyboard better than my hand writing. Sometimes I have trouble with reading what I write by hand and I am sure to some other people they are the equivalent of hieroglyphics. So I will keep the keyboard though as I age I notice sometimes my fingers drag and put a space in the wrong place, or miss one entirely.

I agree with you. My handwriting is atrocious. Still, I don't need to worry about finger placement when I'm writing versus typing. I've missed letters too and need to go back and correct them.

I have done that with a line or two before. It is frustrating.

My keyboard is the simple one that does its job well.
I've seen keyboards that are expensive but does the same job. No idea why people buy those.

@just4him what I've seen are the mechanical ones, the 'silent' keyboards.

@allen0187 Yes, those are more expensive, and so are the ones that are backlit.

I learned to type on a typewriter so I pretty much know the keyboard by heart but yes, I do find my fingers at the wrong keys sometimes and always have those red lines under words that I've misspelled. At least with the computer we don't have to deal with wite-out for mistakes and can just backspace.
