Yesterday.
I went to the hospital to process the approval of the doctor's request for my husband's cranial MRI. He usually has headaches at the back of the head at night time. The doctor is ruling out any AV malformations on brain blood vessels or migraines. Their family has a history of aneurysms. My sister-in-law had CT scan the other day as she has metal crowns I think are not allowed in MRI.
I have the images but of course, I do not know how to interpret them. My husband was really nervous about the equipment. He said the sound of the MRI is really loud though he was given a headset so he can listen to music and he was holding a buzzer in case of emergency. He is a scaredy cat when it comes to the hospital but it was good he was able to do the MRI alone as I have to be with our son.
Have you had any experience with MRI/CT scans?
I am familiar with them but have no experience.

The technicians just needed to know that your sister-in-law has metal crowns so they can discount them in the scanned images. I had to tell them about my body jewelry when they scanned me several years ago. (They asked me to remove the jewelry but some of it can't be removed. The techs said that was okay as long as they knew where the jewelry is located.)
I've had to have several scans over the years. I didn't like being inside the tube but it was necessary, so I did it.
I hope the doctors figure out your hubby's problems and help him with them. Good luck!

@rakski Hmm... I didn't know that... I don't have metal in my mouth.
Hopefully, he won't need another scan.
Good luck!

unfortunately, my SIL had a brain scan too, so for a metal crown on her teeth it is a no-no. So she proceeded with CT scan which allows metal.
My husband did not like being inside too but at least now he is done
I am hoping that they would know what is wrong with hubby

I have had many MRI's over the years. They are very noisy but necessary. The music never helps me with the noise. I just know it will be over soon. I hope your husband results are good. I had brain surgery last July. The Chiari malformation is taken care of for now.

@rakski I see.... Ahh, I don't remember what is the name though
But I know I took one last time with the machine, small white machine used to measure beating or rhythm of my chest, heart rate or something because I said to the doctor I fainted a while in the shower in the morning.

It seems as if all of the doctors in the US are extremely fond of CT scans and MRI's. They don't hurt, but I don't care for them just the same. Simply a necessary evil at times.
Some people just don't do well at the doctor's. Fear of the unknown often scares any of us, I think that's natural for anyone.
Hope he is doing OK and that the tests are all good.

Waiting is often difficult to do. I really hope your husband gets a positive report.

No personal experience with MRI or CT scan but I did work in a hospital for some time. There is an option for open MRIs for claustrophobic patients or anyone who is not comfortable in closed spaces. However, it is not available in all hospitals.
I hope your husband feels better. My mom is scared of hospitals too.

I don´t have any experience with MRI. One time I got an arm broken and the doctor showed my mother an image of my broken bone. IT´s the only experience ¨ve had with that technology

I had one a few weeks ago. It was my first. I was surprised by how loud it was. They didn't offer me any music. I hope everything will be all right with your husband's MRI.
