My drunken student was sober today!

As some of you may recall, I had a student who was sh*tfaced last Thursday. She's a 72-year-old guitar student, and she already knows her chords, but she was so drunk last week, she was repeating herself, and couldn't understand much of what I was trying to teach her.
Today, she was zero sheets to the wind, and understood immediately what I was explaining to her about 1-4-5 chord progressions. We worked out a couple of new songs together, and she left knowing exactly what her "homework" is for next week.
I also have a new student--a 13-year-old 7th Grader who likes 21st Century punk. We figured out the first three chords to a song she likes, and worked together on some other chords as well. I am "maxed out" at Guitar Center.
I will now relax and think about dinner. How was your Thursday?

I'm glad everything went well at work for you this evening, pony.
I had to go in for my allergy shot early this morning. It was fun. At least I don't have to sit there for two hours after the shot anymore. I was happy about that.
It's storming here and we have a flood and wind advisory. The rain is supposed to change into snow overnight. I hope it doesn't stick.

@TheHorse I don't mind shots. I do mind sitting in a doctor's waiting room for two hours after the shot so they can make sure I'm not going to have an allergic reaction to it, though. I'm glad that part is finally done now.
Kitty was enjoying a late afternoon/early evening snooze before she goes out tonight.

I am glad your allergy shot was fun. You must be easy to please, like me. I think taking pleasure in "little joys" is a key to happiness. I just took a photo of Kitty "guarding us" (sleeping by my open front door). It was one of those "life is good" moments.

It started out foggy, frosty and 25 degrees, but got sunny and 62 degrees or so. A really nice day for a change, with another coming tomorrow.

@just4him She was open to learning "finger-style guitar," which is what I use in this piece. I hope I get to teach her to play in that style.

I think my Thursday was good. I think my Friday is good. I think, therefore I am--good.

Glad she sobered up but I am sure that probably was less fun for her, Glad you have a new student. My Thursday just whizzed by and here I am in Friday.

@TheHorse The best way I can explain them is that they are generally chords borrowed from a related scale. I might be in a minor pentatonic scale and I can borrow a chord from the major pentatonic scale. They're quite common in a lot of songs. I have seen other modes borrowed from as well.

I hope you are doing well my friend on the job. Congratulations for that. Let them know how to play those guitars absolutely.

"21st Century punk"
Did it exist in any previous centuries?
