Come to me, car

At the motor museum which we toured a week or two ago, there were several examples of steam-powered cars. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo of one.
Vince said that when such cars are started, they take a few seconds to get up steam, so to speak, before they move off. He said a favourite trick of the drivers, was to start the car, walk 50 yards down the road ahead of the car then beckon it to come to him. I think that would be very cool!
The photo is of a miniature Model T Ford. I don’t think I’ve put it up before.

I'm sure it was startling to see someone beckon a car and it come towards them.
No, you haven't used that photo yet. ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

@JudyEv Was it big enough for a single person to ride around?

@DaddyEvil I doubt it. Anna (@LadyDuck) might have fitted as she is quite slight. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

@RebeccasFarm She had heard a few horror stories of them blowing up. She wasn't afraid of much else.

It seems the Stanley Steam Motor Carriage Company was making these vehicles from 1902 to 1924.

I'll bet that miniature is worth a mint! Cute car. Interesting about the steam cars.

Those Stanley Steamers could get speeds over 100 mph and had steam whistles instead of horns.
I wonder if that miniature Model T actually worked. That be about my speed of car... ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

Once it reached the driver, he would get in and be on his way. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

The miniature Model T Ford is cute.
So the driver of the steamed car knew how far the car would go after it got started.
