I finally have a food mill

My mother texted me on Sunday after I left her house saying that she had forgotten to give me a rice cooker and potato masher from my cousin. I was so confused. I have an Instant Pot that I use to cook rice and a perfectly good potato masher. She said she would leave it by my car at work the following day but it was pouring so that didn't happen. Today she asked if I was at work and I said yes. She said she would drop them off today and she did. When I finally got back here after dinner I opened up the bag and discovered a food mill which is entirely different from a rice cooker. My aunt must have told my cousin that it was a ricer which is similar but not the same. Anyway it breaks things down. You can get tomato puree from canned tomatoes without the seeds and cores. You can get super smooth mashed potatoes by running the boiled potatoes through it. I learned about food mills many years ago on Food Network and it was always something I wanted in the back of my head (along with a meat grinder, sausage stuffer, Vitamix, etc) but it wasn't a priority. So I was happy tonight to discover that the bag contained a food mill (which I wanted) and not a rice cooker (which I definitely did not want). That's one more cooking gadget to cross off the wish list.

An old timey Foley Food mill?? We had a red handled wooden handled one that we used for years and years but somehow it got lost when we moved. Like losing an old friend- thousands of Autumn applesauces were cranked out in that old gal.

I have some things that I don´t really need and need some I don´t have. It always happens. I´m glad that this time you got what you wanted and not what you did not want to get.
