Most Boring Song Ever Recorded

Johnny Mercer wrote a lot of great lyrics for a lot of great songs such as "Moon River,"
"Baby, It's Cold Outside, "Fools Rush In," and many others. Sinatra, Nat "King" Cole,
Ella Fitzgerald, so many big stars sang his music.
But there's this one on an old Sinatra album I own that I remember only because it's so bad. "Drinking Again," is the name of it and if you never hear it, good for you. The character in the song is some sad sack who lost his love and can't stay out of those smoky old bars, "having a few and wishing that you were here."
When I hear those soggy old lyrics, I know why she left.
If you can't wait to hear it, it's recorded by several other singers too. The link I was going to add does not work.

I have never heard of this song but will take a look on YouTube, Just curious I suppose it is only logical that even greats like Sinatra can have some bad songs.

It's just a too sentimental song about lost love. Nice melody.

@TheHorse It has a good melody, but Mercer must have been depressed when he wrote it.

I agree with you. I just listened to the song through the link provided by Ocean Tiara below and it's really boring. I love Sinatra Songs like strangers in the night but Drinking again just don't appeal to me.

@TheHorse Oh yes, he did some great stuff. Maybe they were trying to fill an album.

@JamesHxstatic I like to use its (Black Dog's) lyrics with a straight face to illustrate good and bad lyrics abut making love with a woman. Sorry if I sent you these lyrics before.
Her body is as as liquid
and as perfect as a wave
as tender and as vicious
as a bird that I once saved
--Jesse Winchester (Dangerous Fun)
Hey mama
like the way you move
gonna make you sweat
gonna make you groove
-- Led Zeppelin (Black Dog)

I recall Seasons (unfortunately), but Black Dog passed me by, thankfully.

I don't know why it even came to mind. I have not heard it in years.

@RubyHawk I still listen to a lot of music, but mostly I listen to NPR programs mornings and early evenings.
