My precious girl has Lymphoma....

Some time last year I noticed 3 sores on my Leilah's body. One in particular was very awful and odd looking. We took her to the vets and the vet was uncertain what it was and wondered if it was just a weird skin condition. Over some time the vet gave her injections and we were giving her certain medicines at home. One was in liquid form to which we put over her food and thankfully she always ate it.
Over time her sores were shrinking. But some time after she finished that liquid medicine, I noticed that big odd sore reappearing and getting bigger as well as many other sores spreading around her body.
We took her back to the vets, they worried it was lymphoma but wanted to check her thyroid first but those blood test results were perfect. Therefore, it's lymphoma. A biopsy was suggested but not recommended as she's an older cat and her being under anesthetic could cause her to not wake up again. Chemo is also not recommended. I am grateful that within her blood tests, it showed her kidney and liver were perfect. Her heart was great too. So I'm glad for now that despite what she has, she's in good health.
But she still has what she has. I'm heart broken she has this. I understand this can happen. I acknowledge this is life but no one is ever wanting their loved ones to go through any illness nor eventually have to let them go.
Leilah was given another injection and we have been giving her medicine in her food again hoping that it can at least shrink the growths and slow the process down.
The day we found out, my dad and I tried to hold back the tears but we just lost it. Pets are family. We've had her for a very long time and love her so much. Very early in the morning, the day after we found out, Leilah meowed at my bedroom door. When I opened the door, she came straight in. She only ever really comes in if there is thunder. Which makes me feel good because she finds my room safe. I thought she would walk back out again but she jumped on my bed. I don't recall her ever sleeping on my bed before because she likes other places in the house. But this time, she laid on my bed and fell asleep. And she stayed with me all day. (I barely slept the night prior thinking about things). I can only guess she sensed my sadness and wanted to be close.
I took A LOT of videos and photos. The two I have posted here is when she first jumped on my bed and then the other is a bit later when it was getting lighter. The first photo you can see one of the growths on her leg. We were there sleeping all day and I loved being close with her like that. I love my girl so much. I will do whatever I can for her.
I'm going to be on later. I know we cannot get rich on most money making sites but I want to do better to make sure I have money behind me. I'm not broke. But I don't have a lot. My dad and I split vet bills to help each other. She's worth EVERY dollar! But I want to make sure I'm always on top of whatever she needs.
But for now, I have other things to do around the house.
Will catch you all later. Thank you for reading.
Have you experienced a beloved animal family member with Lymphoma?
Any tips or advice is appreciated.

I'm sorry... Lymphoma is a slow cancer and, since she's an older cat, she should make it through the rest of her life with you. Just love and cherish her and I'm sure that's what she's doing, too.

@DaddyEvil Thank you very much for your comment. I actually didn't know it was a slow cancer. (ugh hate that word) Your comment gave me a little bit of a sigh of relief. I'm still sad and worried about losing her but I'm glad it's not happening any time soon.
For sure. She wanted to come into my room again early this morning to lay with me. It's her new spot. I feel she just wants to be close to me. It's nice.

@VivaLaDani13 You're welcome.
Animals know when their human is distressed and try to comfort them. I'm positive of that.
Just do what you think best. You have good judgement.

@DaddyEvil I do believe that too. I remember many years ago I was sitting on the lounge and was crying. I don't remember why I was sad but Leilah jumped on the lounge with me, stared and me and put her paw on my hand. I so wish that was recorded but I will never forget that.
Thank you so much for that! That is so sweet of you to say!

Hugs from me. I am deeply sorry you are losing your darling girl. We moved to our present house, moving our Sonny James kitty, too. He looked plump and sassy but he was elderly. Just months later he lost a lot of weight and we found he had horrible cancer. We let him go. We didn't want him suffering more. I miss Sonny every single day but nobody lives here on earth forever.

@sallypup aww beautiful! Thank you for telling me. Sonny James was a beautiful cat! I love the name too. Quite unique!
Completely understandable. I do the same with our dog. He passed last year in March. I often look at his photos and I even have a pawprint that was done for us before his cremation. I often like to hold it.

@sallypup Thank you for your caring and supportive comment.
I'm terribly sorry about Sonny. You did the right thing. Rest in peace sweet Sonny James.
*big hugs back to you*
May I please ask, do you have photos or anything up around the house of Sonny James that you can stop to view every now and then? Or is that too difficult for you?

I am so sorry, pets are part of the family and it's just too sad to know that they are sick and we can do very little to help them. Lymphoma has a very slow progression, she is already an old cat, I hope she can live a happy life until the rest of her days.

@LadyDuck Thank you very kindly Anna.
I agree with you completely. Pets are family. If I had to be grateful about anything, it would be that Lymphoma is slow. I really didn't know that before this post. As long as she isn't in any pain or discomfort, then I will be happy for it being slow.
She has still been going to my room a lot. She has been either sleeping on my bed or laying on the floor next to my bed. It's been nice having her so close lately.

@VivaL_aDani13 Your love for the pain you are undergoing are obvious in your post.We don't have any pets;but three kittens whose mother left them in our house.Yesterday one of them stepped out of our house.A street dog rushed at her and caught hold of her leg in hiz jaws.My nephew somehow managed to rescue her.Today she is limping. My sister applied some ointment on the wound and took her to a vet.I'm very sad for the kitten. It is a stray cat;but we know how helpless she is without her mother.
I can understand your love for your pet.I pray for her.

Aww, she’s such a beautiful cat! I know you love her so much. I almost started crying as I read your discussion. It’s never easy losing a loved one even if it is a pet. Or in your case, knowing you’ll lose her in the future. I hope you’re doing okay, and try to spend as much time with her as you can!

@moffittjc Thank you very kindly Jeff. She's still been sleeping in my room whether it's my bed or floor. It's been nice. This morning she was bumping her head against my hand and then randomly tried to bite me. Cats! Loving one minute and bitey the next!
Thank you for your lovely comment.

@just4him That's for sure. My brother has his (well still all our dog)'s ashes on his shelf. My dad and I often go into my brother's room to have a look as if to say hello to him. It's very hard so for that I do understand.

I'm so sorry. I do not know that sort of pain. I feel I might one day. But I know that decision would be extremely hard. *big hugs to you*

@CarolDM Thank you very much. I agree. Thankfully she's not in any pain or discomfort. We will do the very best we can in keeping it that way for as long as possible. For now, she's still being herself but she's been staying very very close to home lately. I'm happy that she's still been sleeping in my room. I love it.
