When spring arrived in Riga, Latvia it was great to take walks by the Daugava. This is the river that divided the city in half, the right side was the city side and the left ,the suburbs where we lived and were known as Pardaugava or Over the Daugava.
As you can see everything is lush and green. By the summertime, it will look like a jungle. The Daugava flows by and many people sunbathe on the shore and even swim close to the shore. The tall tower is part of the TV and Radio Building where from the top you can see all across the city. It is located on an island in the river and can be seen from both sides of the river.

I love that color green when it's outside... It means it is Summer and everything feels nice and warm. I'm so tired of cold and snow.

@RasmaSandra It was 27F this morning... I'm just glad there was no snow on the ground. It's supposed to rain, sleet and possibly snow the rest of the week.

The river must be large to still have an island. I remember South Korea which has a river that runs across the city as well, the Han River. It divides the city into two sides. But I can see that your river is a lot bigger and wider. The lush fauna is a wonderful thing to see in urban areas. Not many cities have lots of greenery. Usually, everything us paved with sparse trees, which is sad because we need trees for our survival.

@RasmaSandra I see, it is the same in Korea, they have many bridges across the river to connect both sides.

@Jenaisle the river is not too wide it is easy to walk across it over bridges.

Why Latvia is so green as Ireland as I remember Sandra!
Were there any floods around there when you were there?

@RebeccasFarm in some parts yes but not actually around Riga, There have been times when the Daugava has come to the very shores but not over,

Nice picture. Things are blooming and sprouting up here in Ohio. Soon it will look like a jungle too.

I have a river running through my town as well. How nice. No island though. We have a green belt that runs along it.
