My memory problems worried me tonight

My husband shaves over the bathroom sink. He manages to get hair around the top part that the soap sits on. Is that called the countertop when it comes to bathroom sinks?
Anyhow it’s not a ton of hair but any hair on there after shaving is gross I think and I always have to clean it up he just leaves it as he always did in his trailer when he lived there.
I had an idea that must be he takes his contacts out to shave and then showers and can’t see the hair he leaves on the sink.
I told him I think I figured something out and asked if he takes his contacts out before he showers. He looked at me with a cross between disgust and incredulity.
He said “I wear glasses”.
I didn’t say a word after that I just filled the water pitcher and chuckled to myself thinking Jeepers that was airheaded he’s right he hasn’t worn contacts in a year.
Right after that he came in and said he was going to bed and our little dog jumped up and wanted to go too. She usually waits until the baby and or I go up to bed.
I mentioned to him that has to be why she wants to go up early because she’s tired from when he took them out for a run.
He looked at me and said they didn’t go they stayed here while he took the beagles out. It’s honestly hard for me to picture that I thought he was joking for a second.
I guess I was so focused on making dinner I forgot the dogs were in the living room.
He said “Are you on crack what is wrong with you tonight first you say that about me wearing contacts and now this?”
I laughed and said it’s this short term memory loss.
It did make me worry a bit though. I have always had a horrible horrible memory but tonight seemed especially bad and my grandmother had Alzheimer’s at a young age. I’m 39.
Before I read to the baby before bed I quick wanted to jot down the two things mentioned in this post and it took me a good long while to think what the second thing I forgot was. Frustrating!
Photo is unrelated but the pink roses I dried and were ones my husband gave me for Valentine’s Day.

If you were focused on making dinner, then it's easy to misremember something not having to do with making dinner. You weren't paying attention to anything else.
And your mind was giving you excuses for why your husband is a slob. You don't want to think about you married a slob... I don't blame you.
If you really think you're having problems, then talk to your doctor about it.

@Daddyevil I hate going to the doctors I put things like that off as long as possible. If it starts being this worrisome often it might not be a bad idea though. I don’t want to go and them be like yep your just dumb but I don’t want to go and then be like this is early onset Alzheimer’s either.
Oh I know I married a slob but yeah I was trying to justify why he would leave things like that and add to the little time I have to do things as it is. I thought he must not mean it .

@shaggin Up to you... I'd rather know, though.
He just doesn't care, just like before he married you.

@LadyDuck thank you I’ll try not to worry. I didn’t sleep well the night before that could be it. Didn’t sleep well last night either after writing this . I must have been clenching my teeth hard while I did sleep as I woke up and my teeth were very sore.

@BarbaraPrz that term always confuses me but googling it now I don’t thinks that’s what he was doing and see the way you meant it to be funny. I can’t imagine someone actually making someone feel crazy like that how sad that goes on.
Thank you!

If your bathroom is in a vanity, it would be the vanity or vanity countertop. Maybe you could try a memory supplement like Gingko Biloba, or maybe even Prevagen to see if that makes a difference. You were probably just busy with other things, but the fact your grandmother had early onset Alzheimers is a bit concerning.. You might want to get checked out just for your own peace of mind.

I was thinking the mirror where our toothbrushes and things are called a vanity?
I feel like I have had Alzheimer’s since I was born I shouldn’t joke about that at it is such a horrible disease but my memory is just so bad it’s either laugh or cry. This was probably just being tired and my mind on other things but if it happens a lot I would definitely consider going to the doctor.

@snowy22315 I know I dread the thought of it getting any worse as I get older. It got worse after the baby was born like so bad I kept crying over it. I did a little googling and found it could be normal adhd systems getting worse too which mine did. I just have to watch if I start having episode often like how I had two that day that made me nervous I’ll see a doctor. My first husband dying young scares me with the baby and my son still under 18 too. Let’s face it I don’t want my kids having to live with my husband without me .

Sorry to hear you are having this memory issue. There are supplements you can take for this.
If he were my husband I think he would have his own bathroom. If he doesn't clean it he can live in it until he does. But. that's just me.

@celticeagle that’s just another expense and I have so many things to take as it is. I’ll look and see though how much some supplements would cost.

I notice I have memory problems too. I will go to a place and then I can't remember the reason why I go to this place though I know there is something I need to get there. It happens many times. Stress and lack of sleep can be the cause

@averygirl72 that happens to me all dang day long. I have to go back where I was and look around and see if there is anything that jogs my memory. Usually then I do remember but to keep the thought it my mind so I don’t forget again I have to repeat what I’m getting out loud over and over until I get it. I’m sorry you have the same trouble. It’s one sign of adhd as well which I have.

@averygirl72 as a kid and adult I was so hyper I couldn’t Sit still I couldn’t stop talking I couldn’t focus on anything with how fast things went through my head. I take medicine for depression and a mood stabilizer that helps but I still have a hard time sitting still and cannot focus on anything.

Are you tired? Lack of sleep certainly affects your memory. Also having a lot to do because you are constantly switching from one thing to another and that makes you forget what came before.
I would try not to worry about it because that doesn't help at all. I have always had a terrible memory for everyday stuff, but I have a far better memory for the past in general. For example my partner will tell me he has to go to a meeting next week and I'll pretty much instantly forget what day he said or even that he told me at all, but I can remember what we did last week or last year much better than he can. And he also forgets what he's doing. At night he checks the doors are locked before going to bed, I hear him rattling the door handles and I remind him that he just did that literally two minutes before - and anyway he locked the door himself earlier! And he's almost ten years younger than me I guess different people just have different memory abilities!

@Fleura I have adhd and didn’t get a lot of sleep so those two things definitely could have made my memory worse.
I check the door handles a few times too I can never remember if I’ve done it until I’ve done it then I’m like oh I already did that three times . Usually my memory from long ago is way better than what I did yesterday.

@Judyev I’m always very forgetful and was only worried as it was twice in one night and those two things really boggled me. It felt very different than my usual forgetfulness.
Thank you. The cat messed up the roses on one side so I had to turn them around. Hopefully he leaves them alone or I’ll toss them out.

@Virtually2021 my memory has always been absolutely terrible. Thankfully I haven’t had any weird memory holes like this since. If it starts happening often I will go tot he doctor but for now I’ve calmed down and am not so worried.

That must be a temporary memory loss and this happens when one is preoccupied and you were.

@RebeccasFarm it has always been terrible but this just felt worse. No episodes like that since though so that’s a relief.
Thank you. I wish I had flowers that matched the flowers on the vase instead but it’ll do for now

Maybe you just have too many other things on your mind to be paying attention to everything else. If it continues and becomes worrisome then have it checked.

pretty flowers. My boyfriend also shaved over the bathroom sink when he had his apartment down here. I helped clean up the apartment when he had to move back to NJ. Yeah it is nasty.
