Late night mylotting, holiday tomorrow, earthquake tremors.

It's 11:30 PM in my corner. I am in my cozy bed enjoying this late night mylotting. Husband is busy with his friends on video call discussing all the exciting plans for their three days silver Jubilee reunion in college. He is traveling on Thursday morning and would be back on Sunday night. Their silver Jubilee year was 2020 but the college couldn't host a reunion for their batch due to the pandemic. My younger daughter and niece are downstairs watching movie together. Everyone is awake till late night as tomorrow is a holiday on account of Ugadi( New Year celebration in the state of Karnataka) and Gudiparwa( New year celebration in the state of Maharashtra). It's also the first day of Navratri ( nine days long celebration).
We heard the news that earthquake of 6.6 magnitude hit Pakistan - Afghanistan region and the strong tremors were felt across the Northern India. Massive tremors were felt in the region where my elder daughter's college is. I was worried. I called my family in Delhi and was relieved to get a message from my daughter too. They felt the tremors and shaking and rushed to the open ground out of the hostel. Her room is on ground floor and so it was not so much of problem. But those from other floors had to rush and they panicked.. Everyone is advised to stay down for some time as they might get some after tremors too in the night. Keeping fingers crossed. Hope everyone stays safe and sound.
Prayers for people in and around the epicenter ( Pakistan- Afghanistan region). Hope we don't hear news of disasters later..
That's all the blabbering for now.
Take care. Stay happy and healthy.

Yeah...those in epicenter suffer a lot....glad that your daughter is safe...after shocks will be there...I just read Marguicha's post...she too experienced an earthquake.
Have you been through earthquakes...experienced them? I experienced two. Second was not as scary as the first...shorter...but the first one was fairly long...for days after that, I felt earth was moving...and here was something at the pit of my stomach which felt the quake...
Hope you have great Ugadhi tomorrow...

I was worried sick. From the time she has moved to hostel, I am concerned about every little thing. Keep praying as any mom would. Glad that all were safe. They didn't get any Aftershock.
I just read Marguichas post. It seems they get it very often. Good that it was not a big one.
I have experienced few earthquakes while growing up in Delhi. They were all some tremors. Delhi falls on seismic zone.
When was these earthquakes? I hope things were okay and it was not too disastrous.
Ugadi went well. We all had holiday and so had a relaxed quiet day

We are on the first floor.
The fans and a few decor items were moving a bit.
We went down.
The higher floor people felt more impact.
The people nearer to tbe Epicenter would have felt a bigger impact!

We did not hear any disastrous news. Seems about 12 lost their lives. Now a days, after Turkey's disastrous earthquake I am petrified at the news of any natural calamities. Nature can be really ruthless.
They have predicted many more intense earthquakes in the Himalayan region in coming times.

Turkey's recent earthquake was a disaster. The loss was huge and the visuals were upsetting. This one got over without much loss. 12 lives are reported to be lost around the epicenter. Rest are safe. They predict more earthquakes in coming times in Himalayan region.

I remember doing that a few times when we stayed in Delhi. Delhi-NCR falls in seismic zone and such tremors keep coming there. It creates panic. They say that there might be more intense earthquakes in the near future in the Himalayan region.

@arunima25 Luckily - touch wood - in our country, many areas are very sparsely populated which is a good thing when earthquakes occur.

@JudyEv Hmm... it's more scary in overpopulated cities with tall buildings close to each other.

Everyone stayed safe..there was no disaster reported despite it being of good magnitude. My husband had a blast..it was fun to meet so many college friends. He met many of them in person after 25 years.
It's summer vacation and I am having a good time. Trying to be more here during the vacation.
