Happy New Year...a productive day.

It's 11:39 PM here as I start to write this post. Just few minutes left for Thursday to officially start in this corner of the planet. . Wednesday here was a productive one. It was a holiday on account of Hindu New Year. The day is celebrated throughout India and different states call it with a different festival. Here in Karnataka ( where I reside), it's celebrated as Ugadi. The neighborhood state of Maharashtra celebrates it as Gudi parwa. And my native state ( I am a mix of two states and married into third one) celebrates it as first day of Navratri. Anyways the day is celebrated across as the first day of Hindu calendar. It's believed that Brahma ( the creator) created the universe on this day. Each state has its own traditional way of celebration. I did make some sweets and an yummy brunch for my family. I could finish few pending chores around the house and was even productive online. So, it was a productive day. Husband bought some raw mangoes and I have washed and kept them. I will make pickles in a day or two. Once summer is here, mangoes are here . Two more days to go before summer vacation begins . Tomorrow I have to go late to work around 10:30 and I should be back by 12:45. I would myLot for a while before sleeping . Hope all is well in your corner. Sharing this beautiful picture from one of the roads in my city. You would find similar beauty on many streets and roads during this time of the year.

Thank you. Bengaluru used to be ladden with these trees during this time of the year. Now many have been cut due to metro and highways construction. This is a main tourism attraction during this time. These are called pink trumpet flowers. I don't know what other names this tree has.

But I think that this day is auspicious in alll Hindu households.

@just4him . The road infront of our apartment looks so barren. They cut a lot of trees to widen the road for metro station construction

Even here in Ugaadi they make that.. I am glad that you liked the tree. They are called Pink Trumpet flowers here. The city is full of them during this time of the year. Today we are making pav bhaji for dinner. My younger daughter wanted to learn it . She is doing all the work while I am instructing her from sofa while mylotting . She doesn't want me to enter the kitchen.
