Fire can be a powerful and destructive weapon in promoting violence, destruction and even death. One most recent example of this was the Antifa and BLM summer riots over the police mistreatment and ultimate death of George Floyd. And in a way, these groups were invoking the common phrase, "fight fire with fire." And "fire" will be our "weapon theme" for today. Check out these tunes which reference "fire in some way." They would be worthy of "burning onto your playlist." Comments, musings, and your own favorite weapon songs and trivia welcome. 1. "Smoke from a Distant Fire"- Sanford-Townsend Band -I really like this tune a friend introduced me to that was recorded in 1977 by this group. Although the song uses fire in the title it's not really a weapon song at all, but one about cheating. This song featured the famous Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Give it a listen you might enjoy this tune! What did you think? 2. "Fire on the Mountain"- Marshall Tucker Band -I was a fan of the Southern Rock sound which featured artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers Band, and many others which fused the two genres. This selection is one of those songs. Maybe you heard this one or perhaps "Can't You See" or "Heard It in a Love Song." Fun fact: Charlie Daniels who had a mega crossover hit with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" played the fiddle on this tune. Do you recognize any of these Southern Rock songs and do you have a favorite? TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. This song was written about the high and low points of this artist's life. He was only 20 when he wrote it in "1968," and was battling depression and drug addiction. The song title uses these two words which are opposites. "Fire" our title theme and "what is used to put the fire out" which happens when there is "thunderstorms or showers." The singer, who was married to "Carly Simon" at one time, had many popular hits among them, "You've Got a Friend," "Carolina in My Mind" and "Shower the People." -Do you know the name of this artist and his fire titled song? 2. "The Doors" had a huge #1 hit with this tune in 1967. The song is about leaving inhibitions behind in a "flame of passion." Robbie Krieger The Doors guitarist came up with the idea for this song referring to "one of the 4 common elements" in his title. This tune became The Doors' "signature song." -Do you know the name of this song from the band's first album, which became so popular it set in motion the group's climb to stardom? 3. Can you answer this Doors trivia: -What city and country did Jim Morrison die? Let's answer these trivia questions "like a house on fire!" If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as The Staple Singers would say, "I'll Take You There." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

James Taylor..the lad back in the day for me. Though I do not recall the song just yet. It was Paris, France that I recall for Jim Morrison.
