Fire can be a powerful and destructive weapon in promoting violence, destruction and even death. One most recent example of this was the Antifa and BLM summer riots over the police mistreatment and ultimate death of George Floyd. And in a way, these groups were invoking the common phrase, "fight fire with fire." And "fire" will be our "weapon theme" for today. Check out these tunes which reference "fire in some way." "Smoke from a Distant Fire"- Sanford-Townsend Band -I really like this tune a friend introduced me to that was recorded in 1977 by this group. Although the song uses fire in the title it's not really a weapon song at all, but one about cheating. This song featured the famous Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. "Fire on the Mountain"- Marshall Tucker Band -I was a fan of the Southern Rock sound which featured artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers Band, and many others which fused the two genres. This selection is one of those songs. Maybe you heard this one or perhaps "Can't You See" or "Heard It in a Love Song." Fun fact: Charlie Daniels who had a mega crossover hit with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" played the fiddle on this tune.
