Garbage File #1: Haunting

As promised, a garbage file. It was a song I was working on that I threw into the infamous "garbage pile." It just wasn't doing anything for me even though most of my "music" is out of the mainstream to say the least. I worked on it a little bit before I just threw in the towel and said to myself, I have nowhere else to go. If you think I should finish this one, that's part of the point to some of this. Let me know what you think. I can always go back to it and do what I need to do.

It has a good tempo. I wish I could hear drums more, though

Mixing has never been one of my strongpoints. lol Luckily music is mostly just a hobby for me. And of course, this is an unrefined garbage file anyway.

I like the song. If you could bring the vocals out a bit more. I struggled to make out the lyrics at some points. I enjoyed the rhythm and flow of the instrumentals.

If I ever decide to do anything with it, certainly I'd mix it down. But because it's just raw and in the "garbage pile," I didn't go forward with any mixing at all. Glad you liked it, though.

You could add some more action to the song and it would be good.

That’s about like my poetry. Sometimes it just doesn’t go anywhere and I toss it. I like the music but seems like it needs a little something.

It was one missing a lot, completely unfinished. I gave up on it long before I made any decision on arrangement, and even the lyrics were just jibberish to form an idea around how they would sound. I definitely will keep this one in the garbage pile. lol

@RubyHawk It was completely unfinished. A lot of times these are just basic ideas that I record bits and pieces of, trying to get an idea of where I want to go. Even the lyrics, such as in this case, are really just jibberish to get an idea of how I want to sing the actual lyrics. Nothing is mixed, mastered, or otherwise "tweaked" and thus, is garbage. lol

Yes, finish it and please provide the words. It's the only thing I didn't understand. I loved the music.

Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated. This is a "garbage file," and so it was never mixed down, meaning none of the track levels are adjusted etcetera. Something you generally do after you have a completed song. Then you go back and mix it and adjust everything.

@porwest Sounds like what I do with my writing. It's called editing.

@just4him lol. Yep. Something like that. I will admit mixing is a bit more involved. But essentially the same thing.

I couldn't understand the words; but I liked the tune.

@porwest Yup. We make up our own words.

@LindaOHio To be fair, this was in the "garbage pile," and thus, there is no final mixing involved. The tracks are all raw. Most of the time a completed project has all the tracks leveled and adjusted.

I always hear that, and then I listen to so many songs where you can't hear the words badly enough that most people get them wrong even when they think they hear them. lol
