Just an Old Man Camping

That's me in the photo, taking a break after getting the camper set up in our site here at the state park Friday afternoon.
This weekend was quite different from last. Instead of being cool and wet, this weekend was warm and sunny. We spent time at the beach Saturday morning and discovered the island's Spring Festival was taking place in the state recreation area parking lot. We visited several of the exhibitor's booths and even discovered one group we decided to join - Friends of the Pleasure Island State Parks. This is a volunteer group that helps the rangers keep both of the island's state parks in tip-top shape.
We came back to camp, had a late lunch, and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading in the screen room.
Tomorrow, we have to pack up and head home. We probably won't be back until the week I've booked in October.

Glad your having a nice weekend camping. I can't wait until camping season starts here, I'm ready for 9pm sunsets and bonfires!

@DWDavis Gotcha. Camping is no fun without a fire, I wait until the rainy season is over then go camping.

We haven't had a campfire yet. Last week it was rainy all day and into the evening on Friday and Saturday. This weekend, it began to rain just about the time we would have started the campfire. It only rained for a short time, but we decided to do without.

@sallypup K and I graduated from tents to a popup camper after our youngest son left for college. From that, we moved to a hybrid camper - hard sides, fold out beds like a popup. Now we have a 5th wheel. It is like having a small apartment we can take with us wherever we want to go.

Ah, you look so relaxed 
! The weather was on your side and you even got to roam a festival. We went to the last day of my daughter's art program - she had been in it for 7 years and received a scholarship today! Now we are relaxing at home.

My weekend sucks we had a nice day yesterday and now today we have got over 6 inches of snow but that is northern Michigan for ya. Glad you all had fun and you are enjoying your camping

@DWDavis — I was in Wilmington a few years ago, visiting the USS North Carolina. My uncle of blessed memory served on that ship in WWII.

@FourWalls I have toured The Showboat - her nickname - many times, having grown up in Wilmington. The best visits were when they had the Sound and Light Shows years and years ago and portrayed the ship fighting in WWII. I don't think they do that show anymore, but I haven't checked in a while.

It seems you really had a nice time. I love camping in the woods--as long as there is a camper with a bathroom! But it's nice to get to be outside before it gets too hot and buggy.

It was a tad bit cooler this weekend. We were indoors. Sharing a bug I brought home from the students. Yuk. I am glad you had such a wonderful time.

I wish I could get such an amazing opportunity to relax and enjoy myself in the vacation so that I can too taste what it feels while on this kinds of holidays.
