Day 255
(Psalms 127:1-5) (A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.) Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows, for so He gives His beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They will not be ashamed but will speak with their enemies at the gate.
Everything has a purpose. Unless you find your purpose, everything you do will be in vain. People waste their lives on things that don’t serve a purpose. They have ideas of what will make them happy, but in the end, happiness eludes them.
Solomon in his wisdom said that unless the Lord built the house, or guarded the city, those who built the house or guarded the city did so in vain. He also said it was vain to get up early, to go to bed late, or to think about all you could have done but didn’t, because God gives His people sleep. Then he turned to what truly made a man happy, children. Solomon said children are God’s reward. Children will not bring shame, but speak with their enemies, bringing peace.
Many Christians believe they need to spend their lives in every service possible to bring glory to God. Yet, they do so at the risk of losing what they should value most, their family. When you set your priorities in their proper order, you will find you have time to serve God where He desires for you. You need to let God build your house and watch over your lives. When you do, everything will fall into place. Your life will be happy because you will see your children as God’s reward, not as a burden around your neck. Your children will bring peace in places you didn’t think possible.
Set your priorities, starting with God as the head of your home. When you do, you will find order out of chaos, and love instead of hate. Peace will rule your life even with those you didn’t consider your friends.
Let’s pray: Father, show me what You want me to do. Help me set my priorities so they glorify You and bring peace to my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

@just4him Wow! That's some good daily bread from the Word. I've always felt that my child is a blessing to me. My daughter gives me the light to push on in this dark world. I work hard to be a positive role model for her. Even though my parents may have made me feel like a burden to them, I would never make her feel that she's a burden to me.
Now that my daughter has become an adult after graduating from high school 2021, we've developed into a different type of relationship than just parent and child. She's my joy and my best companion.
