Australian products heading to Ireland

Only one more sleep before we go to Ireland. Vince’s sister wanted us to take a bag of Cherry Ripes with us to give to our son. She says you can’t buy them there. She also said you can’t buy Violet Crumbles, a chocolate-covered honeycomb confection. I think you can buy Vegemite in some stores but we are taking a plastic tube of Vegemite. If our son has lost his taste for it, we can have it on our toast at breakfast. I’m wondering what other Australian products are or aren’t available there. Not that it worries me. There is nothing that I MUST have while I'm away.

Enjoy your stay in Ireland. My cousins living in Sydney often bring me some Mint candies and lanolin cream when they visit HK.

It's nice to get a few little things that you can't get in your own country.

Maybe something will strike you when you are in the airport. Where are you going to stay in Ireland? There is a store here called World Imports where you can get products from all over the world. I haven't been in there lately, but it is a cool store.

We will be in one of the biggest Mayo towns. World Imports would be really interesting. I know a lot of British people miss particular products when they come to live here.

That is good of you to bring some items that he might not be able to purchase over there for him. I am sure that you and Vince are what he misses the most.

His uncle just dropped off a box of chocolates for us to take to him. They're from NZ where the air is supposed to be the freshest in the world so the milk in the chocolates is particularly pure. lol

I miss many products that I used to buy when we lived in Monte Carlo. Europe is small but each country has specific products that are not exported. Have a safe trip.

@JudyEv - I do with I can find locally (or in Italy), but time by time I think to something I used to eat and I miss it.

Sometimes there are particular items that you'd really like to be able to access. I'm not too fussed but perhaps because I know I'll be coming back here.

When I was at school, my school was right next to the Cadbury factory, and the workers there at their lunchtime would have fun with us kids, by throwing cherryripes over the fence, and then watch us as we jumped up to try to catch one. They have been around for a long time.

I'm sure your son will appreciate the gesture. Familiar with Violet Crumble. Didn't know until now that it is an Australian product. Always been curious how vegemite tastes like.

I'm not really sure that Violet Crumble is Australian but it seems you can't buy them in Ireland. Vegemite is a bit like Bonox I guess if you have that there. It is quite salty.

@JudyEv You have a long stay. But I am sure that even that would appear less. No time is enough to stay with our loved ones especially our children, no matter how old they grow. They are really thoughtful and caring family members
