This baby reminds me of the baby monkey that used to roam around here and his parents were nowhere to be seen Similar is the case with this baby waterfowl. She seems to have made this her home We see her every day and today she ventured into the bird bath all alone. Animals seem to be independent a few days after they are born It is indeed marvelous and when it comes to human kids I remember my neighbour hand feeding her sixteen year old.

Animals adopt very fast unlike we humans, humans are over depending.. that's my take.

Human babies will take atleast a year to stand or to start walking. I have witnessed a calf of a cow that stood up the minute it was born

That is because I take what I get with gratitude.

I do not know for how long birds need the help of their parents. Lizards are independent as soon as they get out from the eggs, they are so tiny and cute.

This happened years ago. We were at our sister's when their cow delivered The calf stood up that very moment she was born

@allknowing - The baby lamb do the same, I see them right now in the field across our narrow private road.

I also think that the lifespan of animals is shorter than that of human beings.

But they start living the moment they are born
