I Used to Copy and Re-Copy

When I was in grade school and up into junior high and high school, I used to copy and recopy my papers, making sure they were neat. (A little editing never hurts) This was before we had computers, copiers, and such. I was a writer, I just loved to write. I was in a special English class in junior high. I always did well in English not so in Math and Biology. Now I wish I had gone on to college and learned about journalism and the literary arts. I was lucky to graduate from high school. What I learned I learned from the library, my mom, and hours of reading the classics. I loved to read. I dreamed of having a huge private library with rare and great literary works in it.
I used to be a member of a fiction writer's club. We sent(snail mail then)our writing to each other and received critiques. I was very proud when one writer told me he had sent his work to a professional writer and had gotten the same critique from this author as I had given him. This made me feel as if I were on the right track.
Now I read dozens of articles each month on different subjects. I find many are badly written, with grammatical errors, misspellings, and even the occasional word left out. It's become a bit of a workout determining what the author is trying to say at times.
Are you a wanna-be published writer like I am? (I have had many of my articles published but none of my fictional work.) How about you?

I had a book of my poetry published when I was still in High School. Since then I've written a lot of articles for different professionals and they've submitted them for publication.

Nice. I have published a lot of articles on all sorts of subjects. I enjoy the research. Publishing in high school must have been nice. Congrats on that.

@celticeagle Thanks. Two dentists and a doctor send me their research and tell me what they're wanting to have the paper written about. (One dentist actually sends me his written article and asks me to "make it more human" instead of dry facts.)
When I was still on Bubbs, I asked the medical doctor if I could make my own article with his research material. He told me that was okay as long as I could wait until after his article had been published before I posted mine. (He didn't want credit for the article on Bubbs, even though I told him I'd credit the research to him. I think he believed nobody would read it there.)

I used to edit and publish small press articles/'zines when I was married, and only one letter to the editor in a local paper since. Any writing I do now is limited to myLot ramblings.

I was a wanna-be author for many years. I started writing when I was eight. My work fell in the category of badly written and grammatical errors. I was an ace speller, so my spelling was good. The story lacked. It didn't have a plot. That was up until 1980 when I got serious about becoming an author. I took a couple of writing tests that you find in magazines to see if there was hope. I got great feedback from the school. However, I didn't have the funds for the school, until 2004. I finally took a course with the Institute of Children's Literature. They put me on the Dean's List. There was only one assignment I had trouble with. I needed to write a query letter. I kept getting the purpose of the story I had written wrong. It wasn't what I thought. That was so helpful when writing blurbs for my books. I graduated from that course in 2006 and published my first article. I published Scarred in 2012, and the rest is history. I'm about to have my eighth book published.

When I was younger I was an ace speller too. Now I have all kinds of issues with it. I used an online school called The Famous Writer's School. I remember Bennett Cerf and a few others were affiliated with it. It did help me quite a bit.
Dean's list is very good. Eight books? So you've been publishing for quite awhile. That's great!
