Confusion, Who Wrote What?

Sometimes, on myLot, I get really confused. I read so many posts and answers that I start imagining that I wrote someone else's post. A few minutes ago, I encouraged several people to tell us all about a strange experience they had. I hope that author appreciates my efforts to get him/her responses to the discussion. Do you ever think you wrote another person's post? Do you tell his/her readers to respond?

I know very well what I post. Asking readers to respond is against the rules and Admin even posted a reminded about this.

In the 12 odd years that I have been here I don't think I have done that.

@mayka123 That is part of the problem. My mind whirls around about a hundred miles an hour at times.

It could happen because there is a similar experience we have as individuals. But it should not be identical. MyLot is also looking out for such posts. But it is always fun to read various points of view of one experience/

I just ask them what they thought, how did that make you feel, tell us more about it, etc.

@Laurakemunto when you answer a lot of posts that you have written about before, it gets confusing sometimes.

I've only done this a couple of times. Mostly I'm able to keep myself sorted.

No, I just answered other peoples' posts. That is what this site is all about. It is about discussion.

@RebeccasFarm It is great. I love myLot. It is a big talk-a-thon and discussion site. I love talking to people from other countries and learning about their cultures and lives.

The way the answers to a post are way down the page somewhere makes it very confusing and sometimes I think I am responding to one person and it pops up to someone else. It makes it hard to remember if you commented on a certain post when you come back to answer something.

I read and comment so much everyday that I stay confused. A few times I’ve gone down the comments in someone’s discussion and answered them thinking it was my discussion. I suppose it happens to everybody.

No. I know what I post. We cannot ask readers to respond. It's against the rules.

You are misunderstanding what I mean. I get people to respond by asking questions or asking them to tell us more about something. I like to use open-ended questions. Also, I make very subtle changes that lead to more responses in a slightly different direction.

I usually do that but some confuse me. I was just on the same thread earlier today and still had the feeling that I wrote it. I have not felt that way about most threads. I don't know what it is about this one. We must be on the same wavelength or something.

I never give it much thought when I write a post. I am sure I have probably covered a similar topic. At the end of the day even if I did do that, it's still MY post. Not theirs. Since I would expect I'd present the topic in a way that is unique to me and my perspective.

I do that too but I also try to answer as many different discussions as I can every day. I also try to answer discussions by new people on here and the ones with no answers.
