The Princess of Wales wore red nail polish and royal watchers are scandalized

Apparently there are all sorts of rules that members of the British royal family have to follow. There have been horror stories of women marrying into the family but not being taught what is expected of them. Diana famously wore a black dress to one of her first public engagements which was a no-no. Garlic is never to be used as the late Queen didn't like it. Women are always supposed to wear pantyhose despite the fact that it is soooooo old-fashioned. I think a lot of the rules were pretty much the Queen's preferences and what was in style when she came to power and they endured because, well, she did.
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, attended Easter Sunday services a couple of days ago wearing red nail polish. The Queen didn't approve of brightly colored polish and only used a pale pink color called "Ballet Slippers". It was expected that other royal women would do the same and they did. She is gone now, though, and presumably so is that "rule".
Royal insiders are losing their mind and said that Kate's "brazen" red nails have "shamed the entire family". I find that hilarious. Supposedly King Charles is trying to modernize the royal family and here we are with people outraged that a woman had her nails painted red. I say good for her and she should go with purple or orange next.

Don’t you wish we had nothing else to talk about in this country except what color nail polish Jill Biden was wearing?

Poor Kate. Royalty should worry more about the state of their country.
