Ha He Hi Ho Hu!
Yesterday
Sorry for not logging in. Was admitted in the campus clinic whole day yesterday. I'll be writing a present tense one though the occasion was yesterday.
8.00am-9.30am
Remember the skin below my eye that got 'sprinkled' by the oil? Well, it gets something coming out. First thought: Infection. So, I decided to go to the campus clinic since it is free. Probably not free since it may include in the fees, but at least I can get treatment and medications without paying more. Register at the reception, take pressure: normal. Ask to wait for a doctor's consultation. The doctor checks the skin below my right eye, gives some medical solution and dresses the wound. Waited at the pharmacy to take some eye ointment. They said this is an antibiotic. I said I am allergic to the antibiotic but they said it is okay because it's just for the skin and not consumable. My gut says no but I have to take it because I want to heal.
10.00am-11.45am
Here's the funny part I take this time to go to the gym. But I just take exercise lightly, but at least I already exercise. I feel happy, then procced having lunch, then take a rest in the library before going home.
11.45am-1.00pm = Allergic Reaction
I try the antibiotic since I need to know if it is suitable. After cleaning the wound with the medical solution, I gently apply the antibiotic to the skin. Not long. Really. In just 20-30 minutes, my eye above the wound is itchy. I scratch. Then it spreads to the other eye. Spreads to the left face, now down to my upper limb. I keep scratching. Since I don't have a mirror, I use my phone. I am shocked. My face is swollen!! I call the campus clinic to inform my condition, they ask me to get back there.
1.15pm-10pm
The nurses in the registration are shocked. They admit me immediately to the same doctor who consulted my in the morning, and goes to the emergency campus ward. I can't feel my arms already. I think this is one of the painful injection I get since they inject through IV approach. I can see about 3 syringes.... The first injection is still bearable. Here's the second and third one, I don't care anymore, I scream because it is too painful. They said the medicine is concentrated, because they need to lower my allergic reaction+inflammation immediately since I can't feel anything except the pain from the medicine. Either the medicine causes drowsiness or I am too tired, but I pass out.
About an hour later, the doctor woke me slowly while asking about my condition. I said, my heart is lighter. I still feel drowsy, that's all I can answer. Then I fell asleep back.
I finally woke up around 7pm. The doctor checks me, and I can only nod. At least now my body and my chest are lighter. I don't even have the appetite. The doctor gives me medical certificate so I can rest today.
But gosh, 3 injections really make me drowsy. Believe me or not, I still even feel the after-effect of the injections. When I type this, I just type slowly. I even sleep most of the time today.
Apologies if my response in any of your posts is a bit weird to you. My head is still on the air after the 3 injections yesterday
What an April shock!
Well, at least I take care of my own health than the tenant I told you before
Picture is mine.
Kbye!
Adie,
April 2023.

Wow you are severely allergic! I am so sorry this happened to you. They should never have prescribed it when you said you were allergic. They obviously didn’t think that you would react how they did but it could have killed you their mistake. My mother had that happen with z-packs she wound up in the hospital I think with her liver failing if i remember correctly.

@Adie04 I wouldn’t want to sue she didn’t die and had insurance to cover it all.
My daughter was prescribed a medicine she was allergic to similar ones. She had an allergic reaction and when I took her to the clinic for the rash it got worse and she started having trouble breathing. The doctors said the doctor who prescribed it should have known better than to give it to her.

I seriously didn't know why they prescribe the antibiotics in the first place! I mean I know that antibiotic do have variations and such, but still I am thinking, is there no ointment of the skin near the eye that is not an antibiotic type?
Thankfully I went back to the campus clinic! My parents would surely be able to sue the whole university if something failed in me!
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Are you not able to sue the hospital?

@shaggin I can stand with the rash, but I don't like it when I start not to be able to breathe properly.
But yeah, you are right. The doctors should known better if one is allergic to one type of medication, they shouldn't take it lightly. I wonder what's in the doctors' head when they prescribe these medications

They were absolutely in the wrong to not listen to you when you told them you are allergic.
