Hello Everyone!
It's been almost two years since my last post and interaction here.. I was very busy for the past two years.. I finished Visual Arts Cert lll in 2021 and Cert lV in 2022.. I made this artwork in between my other projects..And I chose it for our closing ceremony exhibit..
..........................
*EyeAm*Home ..
Started on 16/2/22.. Finished 15/11/22…. 250 hrs.
MDF (w) 47.5 x (h) 35.5 inches
Mixed media.. acrylic, homemade paint and glue, strings and knitting yarns, lace materials, pattern papers and things from the garden..
I created this artwork to honour and give thanks to that 13 year old girl who dreamt of her own decent and peaceful life away from the chaos and dysfunction that surrounded her..
She spent many hours on the beach by herself imagining and wondering what’s out there on the other side of the ocean.. A loner.. bullied by teachers and fellow students.. Belittled and discriminated for all sorts of reasons..
Forced to separate from her family. Lived with other people in exchanged for a chance to continue schooling..I thank her for not giving up despite all the hurdles, uncertainties, abandonment and betrayals.. I thank her for working hard to keep alive her years of longing ‘to go home someday’..
This is to honour the young woman who , tagging along an innocent child and not knowing what lies ahead for both of them, but bravely and courageously took the chance to find out what’s on the other side of the ocean..
I am grateful to my beautiful adoptive country Australia for giving me the opportunity to be transplanted from the pot to the ground where my roots truly belong..Where I wish all my children and grandchildren continue to live in peace..
*EyeAm* is a symbol of my awareness, that I realised I already have since I was about ten years old.. But meeting people from many countries and cultures through my job, made me even more aware of my deep spiritual connection with Nature and with the whole of humanity.. My heart is grateful.. Making art makes my grateful heart smile..Art is a healer..
*EyeAm*Home.. at last…
..............
Thank you Everyone.. for dropping by..

@LadyDuck That's great!. We all deserve to find a peaceful home.. Do you still go back home to Italy for a visit?.. I remember a few customers of mine who migrated here in Australia, went back to Italy after more than ten years..They sold everything and went back there to settle.. As for me, I have a home in the Philippines and I come home here too in Australia..

Congratulations on your certification. Are you going to be an art teacher?
Were you into art even as a young girl?

Thank you MerryBelle..
I am a retired designer dressmaker tailor ... I guess my job is a form of art.. I was never interested in painting or drawing of any kind other fashion design drawings.. the pandemic gave me an opportunity to study Visual Arts and i'm glad I did.. I am setting up a studio in the Philippines and teach less fortunate children arts and anything to do with sewing...
