It is serious summer. In Calcutta temperature has gone to 40 degree celsius. So the only time one can go for morning walk is till 6 am. Thereafter the scorching sun rays is piercing. Everyone is taking care with the heat and using umbrellas while going to office and schools.

Vast areas in India - Northern Indo-Gangetic plains, Western and Central India and parts of East like Odissa have temperatures ranging from 45 to even 50 C sometimes.
Life can be tough especially when one has to go out between 12 noon and 5 pm but well, people do manage.
And yes, electricity bills go up during the summers due to ACs.

We had some rains in Mid to end March.
The rains are over and the Mercury is rising again.
We have similar weather here, except for the humidity which could be higher in Kolkata as of now.
In a few days, I plan to have the AC service.

Our Summer isn't that hot normally, but we take walks in the morning while it is still cooler or in the evening when the sun is going down. (Those are the times we also work in our yard or garden. Otherwise is it much too hot.)

It is no fun at all walking in such heat and could be quite dangerous.

40C is really hot for outdoor exercising. In my location, temperature may rise to 35-36C in summer.
