Day 275
(Proverbs 10:22) The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.
People seek wealth and riches. You see it every day. People spend a couple of dollars on a lottery ticket, hoping to win millions. They sink their hard-earned money into something that won’t give them a return, hoping their luck will change.
Solomon said God’s blessings make one rich, and there’s no sorrow in His blessings.
Christians are no better than the world when it comes to get-rich-quick schemes. You only need to turn on Christian television and hear a good teaching, only to find out at the end of the teaching, the speaker will give you something and guarantee success in your life if you give into their ministry. The only one getting rich is the speaker.
God’s blessings make you rich. How? Do you find your pockets lined with wealth and riches? Rarely. God’s blessings come in many ways. When you help others as Jesus taught, He will bless you. When you give to those in need, God will meet your needs. When you give to God’s work, He will bless you. How do you know when you’re giving to God’s work? Do you know the still small voice of the Holy Spirit? Do you spend your time in Bible study and prayer?
When you spend time in God’s Word, you will know the still small voice. You will know when God tells you to give and where to give to reap the harvest Jesus promised, the thirty, sixty, and one-hundred-fold promises.
(Matthew 13:18-23) “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed in stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Then when you give God will multiply His blessing back to you.
(Luke 6:38) “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (NKJV)
When you listen to the still small voice, spending time in Bible study and prayer, you will know when and where to give, and God will bless you.
Wealth and riches aren’t in the getting. It’s in the doing.
Let’s pray: Father, open my ears to hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit and give according to Your Word and will to receive Your blessings. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
