Did you ever see a book you wanted to read, and many years later you read it?

I am reading a book that I first saw advertised about 40 years ago. It was a little write up in something probably like Seventeen magazine or Mademoiselle or one of those. It is called Lisa Bright and Dark, and surprise, surprise I found it on Amazon. It is about a teen's decline into mental illness, and the increasingly frantic steps her friends take to try to help her. I was hoping it might be available at the library, but no such luck. I was surprised it was still in print honestly, or that digital copies were available. I have it on Kindle. Unfortunately, I had to pay something for it, but not alot. I guess it has been in the back of my mind all this time.

I think I saw or read that book before. I thought it was very interesting. I like reading about what makes people tick. I like memoirs and biographies as well as things on the internet. When I see a book I really want to read, I usually find it somewhere. I used to go to thrift shops and yard sales to look at books.

I am sure if I had seen that book at either, I would have picked it up. I never have.

I still have to read books by John Grisham, there are a few titles that are tempting, I have to decide to buy one and see how much I like or not.

Or you could go to the library. I like John Grisham books, but I have a hard time finishing them. I have one in the car, I have been reading off and on for a year or two. I rarely pick it up.

That's a really long time to remember that book but glad you were able to find it. My "to read" pile has some books that are only a few years old. I seem to push the older books further down and read the newer stuff that I get first.

I seem to read whatever book I am currently excited about,,,and others that I started just kind of languish.

@Marilynda1225 I have several that I lost interest in. Some I am still interested in, but aren't as convenient as reading on Kindle.

@snowy22315 it's rare that I'll start a book and then put it aside. My biggest problem is I'm always finding new and interesting books I want to read so I get them and instead of putting them at the bottom of my "to read" pile they go on top.

I’ve always enjoyed reading. I don’t recall any one book I waited years to read.

@RubyHawk No, but I read The Good Earth. That was quite the book. I wouldn't mind re reading that sometime. I should see if the library has it.

@snowy22315 This is one unusual book I read years ago. Gods Little Acre by Erskin Caldwell. Have you read it? It’s one I still remember.

So have you read it yet? A couple of times I've lent a favourite book and ended up having to buy another copy.

I guess it is like ticking off a box or crossing something off a list.
