I was a senior in high school when the Oklahoma City bombing happened. Today is the anniversary of that national tragedy. Timothy McVeigh was convicted of the crime and sentenced to the death penalty. He was executed in 2001. What are your recollections of this sad day? Where were you and what were you doing?

I was at home and could not believe the terrible destruction. So sad.

I was in college, so when I called my mom to make sure she’d gotten home okay she told me about it. I thought, when she said “bomb,” it was one of those Unabomber mailbox explosion things. Then, when I got home from school that night and saw the news, I realized the horror. I went to the memorial in 2019. A very somber experience.

That event remembered to me the 1969 Piazza Fontana Bombing in Milan. I was a student there at those time and I was close enough to hear the bomb exploding and to see all the windows break. I will never forget.
