Ever Been to One of Those Murder Mystery Things?

I haven't, but here where we live, there is a club house and we have different things there like monthly breakfasts, card games, guest speakers, etc. Some one came up with the idea of a "Murder Mystery" dinner. It will take place (supposedly) on a cruise ship. A murder has taken place, there are six suspects, acted out by people who live here in our park. I am from Texas and can put on that corny accent quite well, so I play Bill "Texas Holdem." Anne will be "Amelia Reckless," a phony writer. There are four other "suspects" and we have to go around to each table, make six statements (we can read them) and the audience has to guess who the killer is. We had a dress rehearsal and this thing takes place this Friday night starting at 5. Dinner is lasagna and I hope it doesn't go on until 10 PM. I'm taking wine.

I've only read about this type of murder mystery but it definitely sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you all enjoy yourselves.

@DaddyEvil Right, all suspects have to go around to each table and read some statements to give clues. I'll wear a cowboy hat.

No, but I would enjoy going to something like that The closest thing was Shear Madness in DC which is a whodunit kind of play where the culprit changes every night.

That sounds similar, yes. Even the suspects don't know who the murderer is.

We have been to a "Murder Mystery" dinner with our niece and her fiance, we really enjoyed a lot and even solved the case.

It is odd that even we who are playing the parts don't know who the killer is until the end. There is a "confession" the killer will read.

@JamesHxstatic - I would like to play the part after all. We planned to go again and then Covid started. I hope they will resume those events.

It sounds like fun. It kind of sounds like the board game Clue. I like that game.

I did once or twice. I'm not really into role-playing but it was quite fun.

These can be great fun. We've really only done it at a dinner party for a small number. They have great names for the characters. Ours was set in a vineyard.
