My last post mentioned Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, where we stayed a night recently. Clifden is noteworthy as the site of the first high power transatlantic long wave wireless telegraph station.
This was built four miles south of the town under the supervision of Guglielmo Marconi and connected Europe with North America. At the height of its operation, the station employed some 200 people. One of them was Jack Phillips, who was Chief Radio Operator on the Titanic when it sank.
The photo shows a little rivulet which is near the town centre and just suddenly appears. It must come from further up the hill and under several roads before coming back to the surface at this point.

So Clifden is definitely a noteworthy place with such a Telegraphic Station.
Do you mean to say that the water comes up all this way as a branch of the river?
That is quite interesting!
That would however means people might be getting in trouble when that suddenly happens.
By the way, I think you have explored quite a number of places in Ireland.
I have not kept up with a lot of posts but interested in checking a lot more.
Anyways, have a great Sunday ahead.
Here, we got overnight rains and well, it is a pleasant 24 - 25 C only and expected max of 31 to 32 C - a big relief from the 40 + we had touched here.

Just looking at that curving stairway makes me feel dizzy.

I like the sight of the buildings. It seems well-coordinated and clean. The steps are cute too. . Ireland has such valuable personalities. I remember again, Leon Uris' novel, Trinity, which was about Ireland. So, I'm fascinated with anything Irish.
