Another of the attractions on Downpatrick Head is Pul Na Sean Tinne, Irish for “Hole of the Old Fire” or ‘Hole of the Old Wave” depending on which source you read.
It’s an inland blowhole where softer rock layers have partially collapsed leaving a tunnel where the waves surge back and forth. On a rough day, foam and water surge high into the air and can be seen from a distance, leading to its ‘fire’ name.
One of the notices mentioned Irish rebels hiding from English forces in the blowhole but the tide came in before they could escape and they drowned.

So sad about the rebels. Too bad the sea wasn't rough the day you were there.

How cool! There’s a blowhole a little north of Honolulu, and I loved driving up there and watching it.

I would love to see something like that. Too bad the rebels didn't survive.
