The photo shows Dublin’s Ha’penny Bridge which spans the River Liffey in the centre of the city.
The cast-iron pedestrian bridge was built in 1816 in Shropshire, England and was originally called the Wellington Bridge. The name was changed to Liffey Bridge after the Irish War of Independence. However, its common name is Ha’penny Bridge owing to the ha’penny toll charged to cross it. This was later increased to a penny ha’penny. It replaced seven ferries which were in bad condition.
In 2001, 27,000 pedestrians were using the bridge on a daily basis. In 2012, a number of love locks were removed and, in 2013, another 300 kg of locks were removed.

That is a good information.
I came to know of a new name of a Bridge as well as a river (Liffey).
The view makes one long to visit such a place.
A nice share !

I've written about them now. Padlocks put on bridges by lovers.

As it says in the text, the toll to cross it used to be a ha'penny.

Eventually, the weight of so many locks began to impact on the safety of the bridge.

A very unusual name for a bridge that crosses the River Liffey in Dublin.

I hope the city can sell the locks for their metal...
