Brutal Dollar Tree soap challenge!

As you know, I suffer from a bit of OCD and am what some describe as a "clean freak." I vacuum literally bi-weekly, sometimes shower three times a month, and wash my hands almost every time I go potty, even at home. Today, I decided it was time to buy some soap for my bathroom. I stopped at the Dollar Tree about bought two different kinds of soap: Oatmeal and Verbena, and Charcoal/Eucalyptus. The former claims to be "vegan" and "plant derived," while the latter claims to be vegan, plant-derived, AND "sulfate and paraben-free." Edit: They are BOTH "sulfate and paraben-free"! I can't remember which I put by my sink and which I put in my shower, but I will do a carefully controlled study in which I use both soaps in both settings, and determine which makes me feel the most fresh, which is best at cleaning foul (or fowl) odors from my hands, which makes my house smell the best, which makes me the least itchy, and so on. Do you have a favorite soap? I have always trusted Irish Spring, but the Irish Spring at Dollar Tree had packaging I didn't recognize, so I shied away from it. If you've tried it, and it's still Irish Spring, please let me know. Photo is entirely mine, conceived, composed, taken and edited by The Horse, April 28 2023

I don't know... I'm just saying... but you might not want to use the charcoal soap on your dangly bit, probably best on greasy hands.

As for my favorite soap, I've been using Zest since highschool.

@BarBaraPrz I'm not sure if I've used Zest. Who comes up with these names for lard and fragrance anyway?

@wolfgirl569 Does it have a function as far as grabbing dirt or smoothing skin?

I use body wash, and George uses bar sope. I think it's zest or dial, I'm not sure.

My sister turned me on to a body wash I really liked. It was called Vitabath, I think.

I intend to shower in May, whether I need it or not. I will provide a report on both soaps. The one I used today (I think it's the Charcoal) one was mild, and did not smell like Christmas Tree Car Freshener or cheap cologne.

I like liquid soap and body wash. I wonder why men in general tend to prefer soap over body wash?

@TheHorse Maybe because body wash gets marketed for women.

Marketing? Soap sounds more "practical."

Both of them sound lovely. I have a stash of Irish Spring. It repels things. Like flying insects and deer, etc. You will find various green bars around my house, inside and out. Don't know if it really works, but many old timers swear by it.

I'm an old-timer and I don't swear by it. But maybe I'll try some Irish Spring next time I go camping.

@TheHorse now that I think about it, I do remember as a kid liking Ivory Soap. I remember it would float in the bathtub water. I thought that was cool back then.

I've never heard of those soaps and will be looking forward to your review. I love the scent of Irish Spring My favorite hand soap is from Bath & Body Works with a vanilla scent. For the shower I have body wash in a light lavender scent

I like certain scents, as long as they're not too strong. Lavender sounds good.

I was wondering why anyone would want vegan soap as they're not going to eat it but then I realised vegans would want everything vegan.

I use different soaps, Irish Spring, Dove. Dial. They all work well for me. My Soaps have the usual packaging.

I like oatmeal soap; but what we use are various types of Dial Soap. My husband uses Neutrogena for his sensitive skin.

On impulse, I bought a liquid soap dispenser at TJ's two or three years ago. It does it all, shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Smells good, works well. 32 ounces,"no animal testing." I don't miss bar soap at all. I must have gone through a half-dozen jugs by now.
