I believe that the purpose of religion is to provide hope, peace, inspiration, and love.
Whatever your religion is, we should all embrace one another because God, Allah, Yaweh, or whatever we call the omnipresent supernatural being's primary teaching is to be good human beings and to be a good human, we need to help one another, and be kind and concerned of other people.
What do you think of this concept? What's your take?

@Jenaisle Catholics have been among the worst in the past. Look at the Spanish Inquisition. Established by the Catholic Monarchs, King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile with the purpose to combat heresy in Spain. The "Papal Tribunal" killed more than 60,000 people in Europe and tortured many more.

Really nothing should divide people.
Sometimes the matter at hand is resources such as land.
In the old days, it was more about that.

@Jenaisle People are always fighting about resources and land and use religion as a way to do that I think.

The Holy Bible teaches us to treat others the way we want to be treated.

I know there are false religions. I just hope people will not be divided because of religion. What is important is our moral values

Behind the veneer, or curtain, of every religion there are good people, and there are not-so-good people.
Jesus Christ himself said that he came for the not-so-good people, to give them another chance to be good.
Most religions try to teach us to be good people too, as they would not be a good religion if they did not do that.
The whole problem comes from fanatics, who say their way, or the highway, and so try to force their way onto others too, instead of being like Jesus Christ, who forced himself on to no one, but gave all the opportunity to do good, and to change to become better people too.
The religion is the religion, but we need to be the good people in that religion, not the bad ones.
I agree with your purpose for religions, with the possible addition for us to become personal friends with God too, while being, loving, peaceful, hopeful, inspiring, people too.

@innertalks That's true and that's when the problems start.

@Jenaisle Yes, a Religion without God, would be lacking in what it is primarily set up for.
Humans can't run a religion properly on their own, without God helping them in the right way too.
Too many times, the religious leaders, have strayed from God, and gone their own ways instead.
