May day is lei day in Hawaii / myLot

For some reason that I don't remember, May 1 is Lei Day in Hawaii. I loved the plumeria flowers that grew in our yard. They made such pretty leis, even though they were considered the most common kind. Dale went with me to my Senior prom and gave me a beautiful red carnation lei. The most expensive ones were pikaki leis that looked more like shells to me. They were the more prestigious kind to wear, but not nearly as pretty. So, happy Lei Day wherever you are!

@kaylachan Actually, the treatment itself isn't bad at all. It's the side effects that can be terrible.

@1creekgirl Even though he still doesn't have his voice he's working on his sermons again so I'm happy to hear God is laying things on his heart. His neck rarely hurts, so we just have to be patient for his voice to fully return.

We used to pick them from our yard and make leis quite often. They smelled wonderful. We had a neighbor who would bring us a jar of orchids that he grew.
