May Morning Breakfast Celebration

At the Tawas Area High School, there was a yearly celebration that most of the seniors participated in.
Yes, it was strictly the seniors, it wasn't open to the underclassmen.
April 30th, the senior class would get together in a private place and then stay up all night, at a party gathering. The next morning, some would contribute food items, to prepare a May 1st breakfast before going to school.
No, I didn't go to this wild party, but a lot of my classmates did show up. Instead, my friend Debby stayed overnight at my house and we didn't go to sleep.
At about six o'clock in the morning, Debby and I started frying up some bacon. When Mom and Dad finally work up, they joined us for crisp bacon, eggs and pancakes.
Both Debby and I caught the school bus and attended classes. It was very hard to stay awake all day, after not getting any sleep

Hmmm, there is no way we would have been allowed to stay up all night, not in our house, senior or not
But that is such a nice memory Kharla..with the smell of the bacon and your parents too and your best friend.
Glad you stayed at your house too.
Happy May Day.

Debby and I were very careful, not to make noise that might wake my parents up!

Now, if I stay up until 10:00P, I feel like a zombie!

@CarolDM I always wake up early in the morning, unless I've been sick.

Only the seniors would do this, making it an annual invent for teens.

We had a huge rock out in the front yard of our school. Each year, the seniors were allowed to paint it different colors.

I was only allowed to do this one time. After that, I had a scheduled bedtime each night.

I could never do that, at this time! As a young person, staying up late was something I liked doing.

@kobesbuddy And now that we are seniors again (but in a different context of the word), we know we were wrong. No one ever actually grows up. We all grow old.

I remember the special day/night we had for those that didn't get invited to the prom. The school rented out an entire entertainment complex that had bowling, mini golf, a dance hall and a pool. We stayed there all night and went home the next morning. We had a class of 1,000 and quite a few showed up for the special night. I'm surprised that they didn't schedule the all-night party on a Friday night!

The ones who partied had a hard time eating breakfast! But, some seniors only had a little bit of booze, they enjoyed the morning breakfast:) I'm sure some of them didn't party at all, just like Debby and me.
