It's Funny How Things Work Out...

Last night we bought a new microwave to replace the broken one. I waited to get a new phone because I wanted to do more research at home, and ended up ordering one online to pick up in store today. I meant to go get it right when the store opened, but I got sidetracked with laundry. On the way I remembered that I wanted to get the money order for rent and get that deposited to the landlord's account. I didn't want to leave the new phone in my car so I made that my first stop. I got my money order and went to buy something I had an Ibotta offer for. They had one product but not the other, so I left empty handed... just in time to spot my mother-in-law starting her lunch break in her car. We spent the whole hour she had catching up, and after she went back to work I would have headed off to the bank to make that deposit... if my car hadn't struggled to turn over. (That was the point when I started questioning my life choices, because my battery tested bad at my last oil change and yes I have the jumper unit in my trunk but why am I driving around waiting for that ticking time bomb to die when I have the cash on hand to replace it now? ) Anyway, one side trip to Costco later I had a shiny new car battery... and then I had to sit for about ten minutes after installing it so my car could relearn its idle settings. And then I finally went and picked up my phone! ...at exactly the right moment for my former boss to walk up and go "Hey, I have a position open and you should totally apply for it." So I guess breaking my phone landed me a job... demand? that I probably wouldn't have had otherwise. (I'm rolling with it, because why not? lol)

@RebeccasFarm I think I'd really be a fool not to. Right now we're focusing on aggressively paying off debt and saving for a down payment on a house, so even just 20 hours a week there would be a huge help.

As my granny used to say, not always problems are bad. You got a job.

Well, not quite yet... but it sounds like everything is really just going to be a formality.

It’s always nice when a negative turns into a positive. Especially if you want the position they suggested you apply for.

It is! I figure I don't have anything to lose by applying, especially as it's so similar to what I was doing in my last position.

Yeah, I think so. I wasn't actively looking for a job but the extra income would be nice and they're willing to work around our scheduling needs because they need a reliable person that badly.

It's funny how things turn out and how your day started one way and ended up totally different.

It's so intriguing how sometimes these things all fall into place - and for the best.

It is, and this is probably one of the few opportunities that will work around our current scheduling needs, too.
