Bikes and Helmets

Helmet as a safety gear

Helmets are good for our safety. I always advise everyone to wear a helmet while on the bike. It protects us when we get into an accident. But personally, I hate using a helmet. For this reason, I don't sit on a bike at all. The last I was on a bike was when I was a kid. In our country it is compulsory to wear a helmet when on the road on a bike. If we don't wear one we have to pay a hefty fine. What about rules in your place. Do you wear a helmet when you sit on a bike? Picture is my own

If you do go on a bike please ensure you have a helmet on. I too find bikes too dangerous

@allknowing It is scary when the traffic passes very close to us. That was what scared me too.

Growing up, not many of use wore helmets when we rode our bikes, but it was also not as "pushed" back then. Society is much more health conscious now. My sister makes all of her children wear helmets when they ride their bikes. I noticed it IS still difficult to get adults to wear them, especially the male gender. I would hope if I still rode a bike I would wear one too.

Its safe to use a helmet when sitting on a bike so that if we fall we are not hurt.

I ride my bike every day, but I don't wear a helmet. Sometimes I do think about it, but to be honest, not that many people riding regular bikes (not electric) wear helmets. It's not compulsory. It just seems annoying to have to carry the helmet everywhere when I go places.

I agree that it is annoying to wear and carry helmet everywhere. But it is safe to use a helmet. If we have an accidental fall the helmet protects our head from injuries.

Even though I do not ride a bike, it is a state law in Louisiana that helmets are to be worn at all times while riding a bike. There is a bicycle store in Metairie which is a suburb of New Orleans that reads "Better than brain surgery. Wear a helmet."

Here too it is a rule that all those on the bike have to wear a helmet. Still we see people around going without a helmet.

I too feel the bike is too unsafe and dangerous. I too have always avoided either riding a bike or sitting pillion.
