So happy to see my marigolds blooming! The golden and light yellow variants offer a beautiful sight, that even passers-by take notice. Marigolds are easy to maintain, just water it regularly to enhance growth and flowering. If you plant it in rich soil, the flowers grow bigger than usual. They say it is a natural pest repellant, including snakes who do not like its scent.

Yes, they are pretty plants and flowers but a lot of people don't like the scent, too.

@LadyDuck Mom planted them everywhere to keep bugs out of the garden and house... I would have preferred bugs running and flying around.

@DaddyEvil I only planted among the tomato plants to keep bugs out.

Marigolds are lovely. I was just at my dad’s home, and he was admiring the peonies blooming in his backyard. It’s a wonderful, floral time of the year.

Marigold and French marigolds are good for protecting the vegetable and fruit plants that you grew.

Yes, I read that too. I like it because it is easy to grow.

Marigolds help against some insects, the snakes do not care, I have seen our garden snakes moving through the marigolds.

@acelawrites Not at all. The only known scents that have proven successful at repelling snakes are cinnamon oil and clove oil. But also those two scents only repelled brown snakes and not the others.

@LadyDuck so it depends on the snake species.
