Rainy Friday

Helper messaged me: horrid outside. Want to forget walking Rufus until next Tuesday? I thought about how Rufus had spent the morning pacing, looking out the window, barking, pacing. I knew that if she came over determined to walk Rufus he would not get walked as much as usual and hubby would go with them. I thought hubby should continue with his nap. I proposed plan B: helper would take me to Home Depot. Rufus is allowed to walk in that gigantic store and its dry. We did that. She drives a huge truck/SUV. We brought along my plastic step stool and that got me safely into the monster. We bought one piece of lattice work to use as a screen for the outside bench area and some lightbulbs and three rebar. That ate about sixty dollars. Stuff really costs now! For sure Rufus and I got some exercise plus he got social stimulation. We managed to dodge a little dog who had a pink sweater on. Home: really felt I had walked Mt. Everest. I made a simple lunch. Hubby came down and started talking about stuff he wanted from the grocery store. Yup. Somehow I found the energy to climb into our little car. More exercise. At least I managed to bump into a bag of M and Ms. Somehow that bag fell into my cart and once I got home again, into my stomach. I must have gotten in a few steps today. Isn't there a Hike the Grocery Store diet somewhere?

You’re so funny. It’s a shame Rufus and the dog in the pink sweater couldn’t swap stories. Of course, I have a Chihuahua, and I have to keep her away from every dog, big or tiny.

@sallypup That’s wise. I know you’d feel terrible if he inadvertently hurt another dog. It’s tough to keep in check something ingrained in a dog’s breed. It certainly doesn’t mean his heart isn’t a good one.

@AmbiePam That's the problem with Rufus. He has a high prey drive and is not safe around little dogs. He looks innocent and sweet but he has a not so sweet history. He heels just fine and minds but I keep a close eye on his very quick movements.

@AmbiePam It's exactly like having a cat and a bird feeder near by.

That sounds kind of like our grocery store visit yesterday.. We spend almost 45 minutes walking the aisles getting groceries, brought them home and put them away. I changed clothes and got ready for bed when Pretty said we had to go back... ... She decided she wanted to dye her hair... *sigh* I agreed to take her and let her pick out her hair dye... then she insisted I had to go inside and help her pick out the color... She decided she wanted her strawberry blonde hair dyed a metallic violet. I looked at the other color offerings and asked if she was sure violet was her choice... Then pointed out the dark purple beside it. By the time I woke up to play on myLot, she'd bleached her hair and decided to wait until this afternoon to dye it. It looks really good. (She took a photo outside today and sent it to my laptop but I don't know what an imbedded image is or how to look at it, let alone add it to myLot.)

I've noticed a lot of young and oldish women sporting interesting hair color lately, @DaddyEvil. Purple shades, pinks, light greens. That's a whole lot of time to be on your feet. I'm glad you are so strong.

@sallypup I still hadn't gone to bed yet when we went grocery shopping yesterday. I was tired! We've been seeing a lot of young women with different colored hair. I had no idea Pretty wanted to color her hair.

It seemed you were quite "toxic". Going back and forth. But it's good exercise, right? I'm sure you will get a good night's sleep come bedtime. Walking does this to me. My aunt's friend only goes to Walmart to walk around its safe and comfortable premises. She made the mall her hiking trail. She was in her 70s but she was spritely and agile like a 50-year-old. Walmart has its other uses somehow.

Well, at least Rufus got some exercise and apparently you did too then even managed a bag of M&Ms, good for you.

@rebelann Thanks. I really pushed myself physically today. I am ready for the rain to quit so I can go snag some exotic petunias and get the yard looking intteresting.

Isn't your blood sugar affected by eating M&Ms? Am afraid to eat so much of it.

Any walking is good walking. I'm surprised that Rufus dog is allowed in the Home Depot. Have a great weekend.

Walking around different stores is exercise. M&M's sound good to me. I have not had any in a long time.
