The rose that refuses to fall off

Fading rose

Roses usually fade away after a week or two. The petals fade, discolor and then fall off. This white rose (I have posted in mylot about this) just refuses to do that. It has discolored and the petals are shrivelled. The center is green for some reason. But it just hangs on! It's been more than a month!! I wonder why it's doing that. Is it normal?

I got a bouquet of multicolored roses about five years ago, and one of the roses, also white, did the same thing. I thought it was so cool.

@JudyEv That’s pretty unusual, isn’t it? I would love it.

This phenomenon is when the rose gets a seed pod. You will soon see it. And by the way they are called rose hips

Wow! That sounds cool. Can this be used to grow a new rose?

Some people here have suggested it may be developing seeds.

@pitstop It is very possible, in the middle, where you see the green.

I don't know if it's "normal" but I've had roses do that, too. They stick around much longer than normal and slowly die until you pick it off the plant.

How long did the longest ones take to die?

@pitstop I don't remember... I haven't had the energy to take care of roses in about twenty years.

I never noticed about the life of a rose. Still I guess a life of a month is too high for any flower

I have one rose bush where the flowers do that. They dry off such a lot but won't actually fall off.

This one is taking a long time to dry off too. Anyway, it still looks good!
