Peanut Butter & Jesus

I think it was about eight months ago when a church started coming by with it's members, and started handing out sack lunches in all six of the buildings in my apartment complex (always around noon on Saturdays). The sack lunches have a label that says, "Peanut butter and Jesus", and at first I thought it was cute, then over time, funny, then sweet. It's just such a kind thing to do as an outreach, and they've come by about six times in the last eight months. They ask how many people live with you, and then they give you the corresponding amount of sack lunches. Inside are a peanut butter sandwich, a kid's size drink, usually a cupcake of some sort, and something similar to a granola bar, with a little variation here and there on the side snacks. I save the snacks and drink to give to my nephew and nieces because that much sugar would make me feel sick.
It can get so hot here outside (from April to October) and yet I open the door to kind smiles from people who can run from ages eight (accompanied by an adult of course) to sixty-five. I've gone on Facebook to highlight these people as well. My dad said he ran into one of the volunteers once, and thanked them for caring enough to hand out lunch to his daughter, and he said the man's face lit up. I admire the time, money, and effort they put into helping the community.

I used to go to the senior centers once in a while and visit those who never had anyone visit them. They used to love it. I would spend the weekends with them. Then covid started and that ended

It's truly admirable how much time, money, and effort these volunteers dedicate to helping the community. Their selflessness and genuine care are inspiring examples of compassion and generosity.

That is such a generous gesture, and it satisfies much more than just an appetite.
We have a small group here in the city that do that usually around the areas that the homeless hang out in during the daytime. But nobody that thinks of the people that are homed and possibly lonely or even just scraping by.
