Well, I haven't got married.
Many news of public figure in Indonesia these days somehow scare me.. They show us about romantic relationship, and people even believe them as "couple goals" but then the gossips come up and said that one of them is cheating..
And then the divorce cases.. that's quite a lot.
Before we got married, we have the right to choose our spouse/partner. And how do we know that our spouse/partner is "the one" ?

I don't know if there is any correct answer to it. I am married for last twenty three years, knew him for seven years before marriage but was not into any romantic relationship, but just as a good friend. Our marriage was arranged and fixed by family. And I am grateful to God to have such a wonderful person in my life. We went for a dinner date first time after our engagement ceremony.

@happylearner Yes, he is. We might not be the perfect people but yes, we are committed to each other. Our relationship has flaws that any healthy relationship will have

@arunima25 I believe that there's no perfect couple so having an argument or flaws in relationship is a common thing.

Well, I guess nothing is ever 100%, but praying about your decision before making a final commitment would be important to me. I have heard even brief premarital counseling helps aid in the reassurance you’re indeed on the same page, and the right route. My dad has given many premarital counseling sessions by hundreds of couples (he’s a pastor). In my state they give you a discount on your marriage license if you attend a few premarital counseling sessions.
If people put their partner’s needs before their own they probably have a good chance of making it. My family is huge, and only two have ever been divorced. It also helps to put God first. But many others have had successful marriages other ways as well!

@happylearner You're welcome. I think some people are way too intimidated by the thought of therapy.

I've heard that many couples go to the expert to get couple therapy. Not just before the marriage, but also during the marriage. I almost forget that but thank to you for reminding me...
Ah, I aggree! We have to put God first and ask Him for the help. Thank you so much for sharing.

You never can be "sure"... I've been married and divorced twice... I much prefer to stay single now. No more heartbreak and I can choose what to do without asking someone else if they prefer to do something else instead.

It's not easy to commit to marriage, marriage has various trials. There are those who try to survive and there are those who choose to end it. Reflecting on what happened to my parents' household, my father insisted that he would not divorce my mother no matter what.

@happylearner Yes, that's how many cases of divorced artists. For them it seems normal, getting married a few months later divorced. Ordinary people like us have become material for backbiting. LOL
