Would you sleep in a capsule in an airport?

Sleep capsules

I saw this funky looking spot in the airport - sleeping capsules. It was in the arrival area. It looked interesting, but I had no time to enquire how much it costs and how it works. Would you be able to sleep in these capsules when you travel?

I am claustrophobic. I don't want to be in one of those tiny pod things, I don't think. Maybe if there were a window? I don't know...but I don't think it would work for my peace of mind.

I couldn't survive it. I'd just have to doze in my chair.

@1creekgirl Some people don't seem to mind being in tight places with no look-out. I am just not one of those people.

Definitely not for the claustrophobic.

By no means. I prefer to sit on a hard chair, sleep as I can and wake up with my neck hurting. I´d be terrified to sleep in a capsule

A difficult choice! What makes the capsule so unattractive for you?

@pitstop I don´t like to feel I´m in solitary confinement. I don´t like the idea of feeling locked up.

Well, it IS unusual, and I am always up to try new things. I suppose if I were caught in the airport overnight, unexpectedly, and I had the money to spare, I would probably go ahead and use it.

I should have asked how much it costs.

I've seen those on a YT video about Japanese travel. They look quite spacious inside. It's tube that you crawl into. The interior is made up of a bed with a television above your head if you're on your back. It has a radio and other entertainment inside it. It is soundproof so you don't hear your neighbors. I've slept in a chair in an airport waiting room. As long as nobody touches me or says my name, I can sleep through quite a bit of noise. (I did lock up my car keys, wallet, watch and a gold chain I was wearing before I sat down and went to sleep, though.)

This concept seems to be making its way into airports now. I wonder if it will become popular.

@pitstop I'm not sure it would be popular in the US but Asian cultures don't seem to have the same idea of personal space that people from the US have. I can do compact spaces, maybe... I can start feeling claustrophobic after a while and need to get back to open spaces again. If I can't, for whatever reason, I start having a panic attack.

No. First of all, it's too much like a coffin.

I do not think so since it is not like sleeping on a bed.

But would you do it if it was a quick and cheap option during a layover.

I wonder whether it can fit my luggage. If not, what's the point for me to sleep inside? Besides, I am a little worried to sleep inside as it looks like I am in a bottle and I am afraid I can't open it

I'm sure there's enough place for hand luggage.

I slept once in a small, uncomfortable chair in the airport with someone looking out for our pieces of baggage. When you're sleep deprived, you can sleep anywhere. Because sleep has to take place whether we like it or not when the body can no longer tolerate sleep deprivation.

It's hard to say if I could cope with this or not. If it looked really comfy I probably could.

I guess if you really needed a sleep and this was inexpensive, this is an option.

I don't think I"d care for them. I'd rather have a nice hotel/motel room. I need my bathroom!
