In an exciting turn of events, Apple's Safari has reclaimed its position as the world's second most popular desktop browser, surpassing Microsoft Edge, as revealed by recent data from web analytics service StatCounter. With a global market share of 11.87 percent, Safari now holds a narrow lead of 0.87 percent over Edge, which stands at 11 percent. However, Google Chrome maintains its dominant position with a commanding 66.13 percent share, while Mozilla's Firefox trails behind in fourth place with 5.65 percent. Let's delve deeper into the latest rankings and explore the factors contributing to Apple's resurgence.
The current standings of the most popular desktop browsers are as follows:
Chrome: 66.13%
Safari: 11.87%
Edge: 11%
Firefox: 5.65%
Opera: 3.09%
Internet Explorer (IE): 0.55%
Apple's remarkable rise in the browser wars corresponds with a substantial increase in global Mac sales throughout 2022, despite challenges posed by supply constraints. Interest in Apple's revolutionary chips, including the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, and M2, contributed to a staggering $11.5 billion revenue for Macs in the fourth quarter of 2022, a notable $2.5 billion increase compared to the previous year.
Over the fiscal year 2022, Macs generated a total revenue of $40.1 billion, showcasing an impressive growth of $5 billion from fiscal 2021's earnings of $35 billion. Notably, in the fourth quarter of 2022, half of Mac buyers were new to the product line, amplifying the exposure of MacOS and Apple's default Safari browser.
While Safari's resurgence is noteworthy, it has yet to make significant strides in catching up to Google Chrome, which maintains a firm grip on the browser market. Chrome's market share only dipped by 0.51 percent compared to the previous year, signifying its enduring popularity across MacOS and Windows platforms.
Apple's Safari browser has successfully reclaimed the position of the world's second most popular desktop browser, surpassing Microsoft Edge. Safari's surge can be attributed to Apple's robust Mac sales and the growing adoption of its advanced M-series chips. However, Google Chrome remains the undisputed leader with a commanding market share. The browser wars continue, and it will be intriguing to witness future developments as competitors strive to challenge Chrome's dominance.
In the end , I would like to ask you about your favourite browser, and why is it your favourite browser?

I disabled Edge on my new laptop and installed Chrome. I'm familiar with Chrome and see no reason to change just because I bought a laptop running the Microsoft O/S,

@zainkhan121 Go into the programming and shut it off. It tries to turn itself back on but you just shut it off again.

Safari is no longer supports by Apple on the Windows platform, so surely it's not becoming popular because of new sales. You can still install Safari on Linux and you can also install Edge on Linux. I use Chrome just because many sites are optimized for Chrome.

IE is in the list because when a user installs a Fresh Window, (Windows 7 and 8 and 8.1) IE is the default browser that a user has to open in order to install other latest browser such as Chrome or Mozilla. StatCounter counts that data as well.
