If your little cousin blows out the candles on your birthday cake, what will you do?

I remembered a discussion on Zhihu. If your little cousin at the age of 7 or 8 blows out the candles on your birthday cake, what will you do? Such a simple question, isn't it? That's nothing for a little kid! But when I looked through the responses, I found a quite different world. Be sure you won't be too angry, or please stop reading. Most of the people answered their "experiences". It's horrible. One said, "I will never let him spoil my mood. He must know what is like in the society. So I just put the whole cake on his face and enjoyed him crying. " One said, "My birthday is on Feb. 29, so I couldn't stand her, because I can only have my birthday once 4 years! So I pressed her head into the cake and just let her flounder. It serves herself right." These people are only 16~22 years old. (Deep breath) ARE YOU MAD??? DON'T YOU HAVE ANY KINDNESS??? HOW DARE YOU!!! They are only kids. Only foolish kids. They think blowing out candles is interesting and enjoyable, so they do so. Why do you have such a great anger??? If you can't stand these behaves, don't let yourself be as foolish as the kids. They are only kids at the age of 7 or 8, but you are over 16, even an adult. You should know what means "let it go", but not only shout and be out of control like a wild tiger. You should know what is correct and what is wrong, the world doesn't belongs to you. I've talked about this topic with my mom, and she said, "These are the childish adults. I don't know why there are so many on the Internet in China. They think the kids should go to hell. The kids shouldn't do anything which 'spoils' their moods. They try their best to fight against the kids, and even felt that he (she) is so great and show the 'great career' to everybody. They don't remember they were kids, too, and they don't try to find the wrongs of themselves, but only put all the bad to kids. They are only 7 or 8." What do you think of it?

There wouldn't BE candles on my birthday cake. I put a candle on a cupcake for my daughter on her birthday and the big cake had none. That way none of the kids at the party accidentally spit on the cake for everyone.

@Aminoac I love cake and don't care about candles. I only put a candle on a cupcake to keep germs off the big cake. I'm a germaphobe. If people blow on candles on a big cake, I won't eat the cake. I'm getting older. I don't like fights, either. Kids just want to have fun... They don't know they're doing anything wrong... Just relight the candle if it worries you.

For me, the most important thing is the big cake, but not blowing out the candles. Can candles be used to eat? Only desserts and cream can encourage me!!! And I love the laughters of the kids. I hate any kinds of fight.

To avoid those problems I would not place candles on my cake. I could put one candle on a small muffin and let them blow it and also eat the muffin with their saliva on it.

I think these so called adults need to grow up themselves. They are embarrassing themselves by responding like that. I can understand another child being upset if another kid blew out their candles, but the other ones should get a life, and take stock of what is really important. Blowing out birthday candles is not high on the list of importance.

Why not let all the kids enjoy blowing out a candle on an individual cupcake for them. That is what I did.

We have many ways to solve it, but some people thinks anything the kids and their parents do is wrong. Anyway, we should avoid this kind of troubles first.

I say let the little kids blow out the candles if it makes them happy.

This is the smartest way. I enjoy the happiness on the kids faces.

hehe, this is the reason why I don't like celebrating my birthday especially if there will be other kids unless it's my child.

As my late mom would say "You were born as an adult?" That is uncalled for the persons to harm kids for being kids at a birthday party.

Well, it seems like blowing out birthday candles has become a serious matter for some people! I can't help but chuckle at the extreme reactions and strategies shared in those responses. It's quite surprising to witness such passionate debates over something as innocent as a child blowing out candles on a birthday cake.
